Sythe.org bans -> market only bans

I like this suggestion but when you ban them from being able to post it doesn't stop those that are banned for committing fraud via targeting people to imposter scam or to pay with stolen funds on paypal that get recovered back. With them still able to see threads of what others post it leaves a lot of sellers vulnerable.

Another thing, this website is based around buying/selling realistically if they are here to scam others they don't care about the website or community and are toxic to have posting around. It in a way sounds nice to have not so many bans but I've always seen bans as a way of knowing the staff cares about the safety of others by making bans to keep those that don't belong away. It's always been a way to see the staff wants to create a safe environment and the high ban rates show they do there job. Another thing if I see a user scammed on the market with a rank saying that I wouldn't want to do any business with him because I know he betrayed the trust of someone else.

Edit 1: Maybe, make it so they can't access any marketplace thread to view like a restriction that rank adds and then it seems like that could work in terms on not having threads filled with "banned". However, still I feel if they are going to scam in the first place they don't really care about the website nor posting so they would just scrap the account and make a new one to start over again...

 

I absolutely support this and pushed for it years ago along with @Deacon Frost (@ing him even though he isn't on Sythe anymore). I'm very glad that it has come up again.

What will we do if they evade their market ban? Then ban them? Won't having a ton of users with massive "KNOWN SCAMMER DO NOT TRADE" also look bad for the site?

Just have them show up as banned, so there's no confusion for people. Also add a non-market user rank, and then start letting them post slowly in more and more sections. Don't overdo it and immediately open the flood gates. Start with the spam forum.

This would be a big issue. That's why they should not have access to a lot of features, such as signatures, private messaging, and so on. Maybe heavier temporary bans for breaking the rules?

 

Yes please. It would help users like this guy ^ (who is currently vading @Heads447) get back to the community. He was actually a very active community member and there are so many more like him. Also giving this suggestion my 100% support.

 

For starters, yeah, that'd be a good idea. Maybe also see announcements and such, then start adding more from there. I'm not proposing it always be limited. Just start adding sections slowly to monitor it closely and see how it turns out. Also see my edited post above - I definitely don't think they should be able to private message.

 

Personally I support this because Sythe is such a hard community to come back once you have had an issue with the market and so people end up vading for this reason. It's just straight up easier to vade then to Pray that you get 5 staff supports.

 

Support. People will probably still ban evade though so it'll have to be done in a clever way to stop them vading and getting a market rank. Or do you plan on making requirements to become a market user?

 

I think you would have to find a way to moderate their private messages too because they could potentially still try to scam again.

 

Yeah I don't see a solution to all vading. It definitely shouldn't be the top reason to do this. Because people will get market bans and then vade on new accounts just to scam. It definitely would be nice if people were just shadow banned on their new accounts if they're market banned. By tracking + IP.

 

No the answer is to vade and become a staff member in like a year or so by just following the simple things you have to do and sucking the correct cocks to get there and then be a great staff member and get people to suck your cock and then reveal your past and say you are sorry and were ashamed and can't live with it anymore and then get pardoned in like 2 seconds and become even more beloved.

I don't understand why on earth you'd want 'poison' to remain in the community, especially if their going around scamming or doing other malicious things. This is just a one way ticket for vaders to be on the forum, who try get a reputation as a community member in other forms of communication through the forum. Then if they get let back into the market, they will most likely just abuse it. Either that or they will do both, vade and use the forum, which essentially could be abused. Unless your saying they would be outright permanently banned from Market related activities, which all us know majority of which will go through the pardon system either way. Or just vade. I mean people vade to scam, their not vading to be on your forums, or to participate in the community, they vade to ruin the market.

Going to have to go with a no on market only bans. If someone scammed a Sythe.org user why would they still be allowed on the website? I'm all for changing up the banned rank, though.

 

I dont think a lot of people come to Sythe to socialize. I am pretty sure most people come here because of the market and the subforums outside of the market are just a small addition. In that case a market ban would be the same as a normal ban, people would ban evade to get acces to the part of the site which made them come in the first place.

Besides that, I agree with Sonia and Gracious.

 

When someone scams in reallife we lock them up behind bars. If someone scams on Sythe we make sure they cant come back, as locking someone up is unfortunatly not an option.

 

I totally understand the approach and new ways of wanting the community to regrow, having vaders and scammers is not really a good effective way of doing this. When people commit fraud, they get arrested. They go to jail right?, so in essence we do lock them up, we stop trading with them, we don't respect them, we don't honor them, their presence is unwanted, and is filth within society.

The community is dead, because the market is active, vaders and scammers aren't apart of the community, because in essence they only use the community for pc ... lets say... and then abuse that, their donations, SVU previously, miniranks possibly, a few shit vouches, and their whole community appearance influences newcomers. I don't actually think any vader or scammer genuinely care's for the community and wishes to participate within. To me it seems a system of abuse. And allowing a market ban/come to our community would further that ideology of abuse.

I mean, try it, attempt it. if it all goes to the shit, revert it. I just would not appreciate this to happen. imo.
