I think account renting should be stopped

I think account renting should be stopped for these reasons:

1) People can be kicked off accounts within in minutes. So if they win big and the person who rents the account is watching, the likely outcome will not be good.

2) Someone could bot on the account while renting and get it banned.


Both these reasons are hard to prove in a dispute. If not stopped fully, I think at least a requirement should be put on it so newcomers can not just repeatedly scam.

 

There are possible negatives in every type of service. This won't be taken away here on Sythe.

The owner of the account understands who he/she is giving their account to, possible outcomes, and lots of other factors.

No support. There will always be risk in the market, which is why you should deal with the right people or use a middle man.

 

I understand most types of trade come with some sort of risk, but this one comes with quite a high risk. The thing is with most other types of trade, they can easily be resolved from evidence, whereas account renting is a tough situation because it's hard to provide evidence to prove anything e.g. It's hard to prove you were kicked off the account, hard to prove that a person stole the whip etc

 

Support account rental is fucked. Every other (maybe other other) rental seems to end in a dispute.

I genuinely thought we banned it but I guess it was just a lull in account rental. Since its reemerged its been nothing but bullshit.

The risk associated in account rental is no more or less than that in Name Sales. But we don't just remove these markets, we just establish steict procedures to abide by and deal with situations as they arise.

 

Don't forget the fact people can get the account perm banned or muted.

I've rented an account before from someone on here logged in it got insta ban due to the fact previous user was botting on the account.

I'd highly suggest people who rent the accounts be more carful who they rent them too or just stop.

No support. Everything comes with a risk, and there are other things with even higher risks such as handing your pure over that may not have a pin for questing or skilling. Ppl should be aware when they are dealing with ppl who aren't as trusted.

 

I was thinking of having a blacklist of accounts, similar to the account selling section which can be put in the 'Other services' section to prevent users from renting accounts from people that been proven to scam.

There should be a clear ToS that both parties can agree with and be responsible for if anything does happen regarding the account. Either way, in event of a dispute, one party will lose due to foul play which is just. It's highly unlikely that the renting party will ever spontaneously get a macro ban if they're not botting on the account. If the renter allows the account to be botted and it's clearly stated in the ToS, then by all means macro but it's dependent upon the ToS and/or renter.
