Stop locking news threads

It was locked while he was still a mod.

 

And the issue was blown way out of proportion

 

people need to stop being salty about everything

 

i'm confused, was that not a joke thread? i legitimately thought everyone was getting meme'd and butthurt over a prank and didn't realize it, but was this darkspunk guy actually promoted? i don't think so; upper staff has at least half a brain cell.. or at least i'd like to believe so

 

Based on that logic we aren't allowed to be negative about anything ever.

 

Yea, locking it was unnecessary. I decided not to make it an issue.

I can confirm that it got locked when darkspark was still a moderator, not because it became irrelevant.

 

He was legitimately promoted lol.

 

I don't see a problem with the thread being locked. If promotion is no longer relevant and discontent can be expressed in Feedback, then what purpose is there for leaving the thread open? He was demoted, there was no longer a need for the continued announcement of a new staff member.

This thread was closed much sooner than the average (me looking at a like 6 threads on the front page) and clearly it was not being excessively spammed. Citing bureaucracy is not acceptable defense to stupid actions.

 

This. As much as I love getting in on the juicy Sythe drama, the dude was demoted so there was no need to keep his promotion thread open. Make a new thread in a different section to circlejerk about how horrible of a promotion it was.

The staff member was since demoted and with this demotion, why continue having a thread announcing his promotion? Even if it wasn't being excessively spammed, I see no reason not to lock it. Sure, it could have stayed open, but it is also irrelevant that it was locked. I fail to see how I both cited bureaucracy as a justification and how the action itself was stupid.

A thread with no serious discussion taking place denoting an individual who was promoted then promptly demoted being locked is hardly controversial.

It is a locked thread and I frankly cannot believe there is a two page feedback thread addressing it.

 

He had no yet been demoted when it was locked. It seems really clear to me that it was an attempt to save face.

 

Are you guys purposely ignoring the fact that it got locked way before his demotion?

 

Or people could use the feedback section to voice their negativity like you are doing now. The thread became spam with everyone saying the exact same thing "he hasn't even logged in since bla bla bla".

 

I support the mods wholeheartedly. It was a good move to keep us safe from spam.

 

This. It was locked days before he even got demoted. Actually the last person to post was Astro and then it got locked. Sythe demoted him days later.

 

News threads are almost always locked a few days after they are posted to keep old news from being bumped. This was just a "scheduled" lock, I promise it had nothing to do with the event itself
