Don't really have any desire to game on my tv but its still a cool concept nonetheless. Things like family sharing etc seem really slick

The family sharing is pretty epic. I don't really want to game on my TV either but maybe if they have some games that could be played split screen I would consider it. Have a bit of laid back fun with the girlfriend or something.

Looks neat, don't think it's something I'd invest in though.

Its going to be like $99, not really too much of an investment. I'll probably get one just to play around with.

SuF, do you know what the purpose of the higher end ones are? Isn't the idea that you'll be streaming the video from your main computers graphics card?

I've been having steamgasms all week, love all the new stuff coming out. Obviously this would suck for online fps type games but for single player and other types of games it looks like it'll be pretty neat.

I don't really get it. The concept of it is to have a steam 'console' to be able to play everything on your TV rather than PC? Isn't it just easier to hook up an HDMI from your computer and play that way...?

I'm not 100% sure but I think you're able to have your computers graphics card doing the work from a completely different room. It works as an entertainment center so you'll be able to watch netflix, browse the internet, and play games straight from your living room. Also there is family sharing and stuff so multiple people in the house can play.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, it'll be great for more casual things though for sure. I'm sure most games will be released with steampad support so it should be interesting.

By the way do you have any idea on the release date of the steamos?

I don't think the Steam OS will be good it seems to be only for games.

You'll be able to do regular internet browsing, streaming movies, and probably word processing etc...

Not sure what you're talking about, a well executed os developed specifically for gaming seems great to me.

Its great too because I build custom gaming pc's and I'll be able to install it for my customers that don't want to have to pay the $85.00ish for a copy of windows 7.
