stat resets?

I haven't played rs for awhile and I'm wondering what the stat resets are about. Do they reset all your stats? Is it for botting? Does it happen after you get back from a temp? Can someone who knows all about it feel me in?

They seem to only reset the stat which they caught you botting. It is independent of any bans, but it seems that most stat-reset accounts get banned within a few days after they get reset.

I hypothesize that only the ones that publicize their reset are the ones that get banned.

I think if you kept a low profile and played legit for a while, you could escape a ban.

If they're going to ban without further consideration anyway, then why go through all the trouble of making individual stat resets anyway?

Jagex has been experimenting quite a bit with punishing botters. My ultimate guess is that they are researching botting methods, in order to improve their detections. They started with temp bans, although this may not have produced the same number of "returning offenses" as they had hoped; now they're going to the less-shocking statwipe. Perhaps they think that more botters who got their stats wiped will return botting (and allow them to monitor their accounts) compared to those with temp bans?

As I recall, stat wipes began before temp bans came back.

But I do agree with the rest of your hypothesis, yea.

Once they figure us out, we're pretty fucked anyway.

It still seems to be either/or.

Probably depending on the skill you were botting, but could depend on severity of botting as well.

The resets are really happening- The above is a picture of something that just happened today, that I saw whilst browsing the Runescape Official Forums.

this could be usefull lol, use a defence bot thing or what ever if you want your defence to be resseted
