    seriously i dunno how you guys can pick up more then 1mb/sec internet speed... i mean ffs i have the fastest residential service in my area and it only tops maybe 8000kb/s on good days.

    Your computer downloads a file from their site, and the site calculates how long it takes for you do download it. Uploading is the same, your computer uploads a file, the server calculates how long it took.
