Someone tell me what I did wrong...

Okay, so I was playing a game as Jax solo-top. Lost first blood to a really well-timed jungle gank from Volibear, but got 2-kills immediately after that. Anyways, we wound up losing the game - can someone look over the lol-replay and tell me what I did wrong? This was just a normal/blind-pick game... But last two games the teams I played with manage to lose games. >_<

I've just watched it back and I've found a few small points that I'd noticed; here they are.

- The first blood could of been prevented, you placed the ward way to early, there was no reason for it to be that early, also you placed it really close to the lane, rather than closer to the river.

- You roamed a lot, allowing elise to out farm & out level you. She also had an easy chance to push the turret.

- You don't seem to know when you stop chasing, i saw you died atleast twice from diving the turret for the kill.

Other than that I thought you did fine; farmed well & warded reasonably well. (Other than the start)

Learn the limits of your champion and others to prevent some deaths there, and don't roam when you haven't already won the lane. If you watch the LCS games, where there's always some kind of pressure to fight, there is hardly ever a lane uncontested, or at least a lane where someone can jump back in early. 10 cs = 1 kill, and for a item-hungry champ like Jax make sure you keep the farm up.

Also, develop rapport with your team so that they can trust you. Focus objectives, not kills, since ultimately a team who has pushed to inhibitors early can farm it out until 40:00 and force an ace for an easy win. I've won games 15-35 this way. We were getting shat on in the laning phase, but the team couldn't organize a fight under turret, so we just kept defending until we were tanky enough and death timers high enough to force one easy fight in our base, ace them, and then tank turrets for the win. On the other hand, I've played with some greedy killwhores who refused to push. We won every teamfight but never gained momentum because our lanes were always pushed. We were way up in kills, but we still lost badly.


The moral? Objectives (towers, dragon, baron) are more important in many cases than kills.

Thank you both for your responses. I tried keeping us up by taking down a few objectives (dragon, towers, etc.) and the likes. But trying to keep the morale up of teams who just don't know what they're doing is very difficult.

I do understand that I need to keep in lane much more as opposed to roaming and definitely should have dropped that ward later on. It's just very frustrating when a bruiser is laning against someone like Elise (ranged bursts).

Also know that some games are just not winnable. Your team could have picked a composition that just doesn't synergize well. That, or the even more likely option that you were just out-skilled. People are always hasty to blame their teammate for being bad, but in most cases it's probably just that they got a ridiculously good top lane. I had one game where I was just shit on, and the guy was clearly platinum or diamond caliber in teams of 1v1 skill. I consider myself to be good, but my team was saying I "threw" the game by feeding the lane. Firstly, I only fed 2 kills and had 0 ganks from the jungler, and secondly, we "threw" the game as a team because nobody worked together. It takes 5 people to lose games, not just 1.

Okay... new one... I played Kassadin mid this game... And we lost 4v5... I kept trying to communicate to my team that we needed to hit their turrets etc. and they weren't listening...

I held my lane early game (except for beginning when my Sin was asking for their blue). I tried getting them to do dragon a few times. I even tanked a kill from Varus just so that we could get it... But everything was just so useless. I asked for wards, etc.

Fuckin most frustrating game in the world... Just absolutely no communication/teamwork... And yes I know I should have gone back at the end to defend but I was trying to get turrets pushed since my teammates weren't going to do it...

I've not watched this yet, but regardless you shouldn't rely on the support to ward, everyone should be warding.

I think I was warding - when I could afford to. I might have wandered too much again though. Not sure.

Even the ADC should buy wards. Whoever thinks they don't need to buy wards deserves to be in bronze. If you watch pro matches and **********s, they buy a ward pretty much every time they base. Of course, they also time their base returns so that they have 75 extra gold for the item they need + a ward, but still...

Also, KDR doesn't mean anything at all. First of all, look at a support. It's usually bad for a support to get 4 or 5 kills, since that's a whole BF sword that the carry didn't get to have. Secondly, I've had a lot of games where we won with like 20 to 30 in kills. Communicating with your team is the key, and also timing objectives strategically wins games too.

Okay... This one I thought I did relatively well... Ummm... My support was kind of... Well... Just seemed inexperienced (he was a coworker that asked if I wanted to play a game with).

Unfortunately, that lead to a lot of help being required by iW00... Which really wasn't good for our top laner in the game. The most experienced person on their team was by far the twitch (top laned) who pretty much carried them to the end with backdoors.

We just BARELY won - if the opposing team had simply gone for our nexus they would have got the game. Basically we won sheerly on the inexperience of the other team and the only slightly more experienced part of our team... >_<

Specifically the most recent one I posted. I think I did alright as the ADC in that game. I tried to get wards when I could, bought as I needed to... Maybe backed too much? Not sure though.

 

Even the ADC should buy wards. Whoever thinks they don't need to buy wards deserves to be in bronze.
