Civil/Cordial Disputes

Personally tired of people posting on scam reports simply to bash or make baseless accusations or defaming comments about the opposing individual. If you guys need the drama watch a reality TV show involving housewives.

Expand the rule about not posting on a scam report that doesn't involve you to allow staff to warn->infract users who spam useless bashing that only serves to inflame the entire situation.

For instance, it's come to the point in the MooTrucks/Gun situation that they've been allowed to publicly bash eachother to the point their pride has been too hurt to accept the staff's decision. If Mootrucks has to repay he will take the ban, aka accept being labeled a scammer. On the flipside if Mootrucks doesn't have to repay, Gun threatens(very empty) to scamquit.

I think the Mootrucks/Gun emotionally inflamed situation might've been avoided if only relevant and useful posts were allowed through. Delete and infract the rest.

If you are "personally" and "emotionally" triggered by some flame and petty name calling (that is not being directed towards you) in the RaS section on an online gaming forum, I really do think you need to get out more.

 

Missed the point entirely. I'm not personally or emotionally triggered. Re-read op. The point is, if the flame was filtered it's likely they could have settled their conflict with a resolution that works, but now it's likely one of them will get banned.

No, if the flame was filtered the outcome would still be the same. Gun will always be Gun. This has nothing to do with flame and name calling; it has everything to do with hubris and stubbornness.

i think this happened as a result of the xenforo crossover... something to do with xen requiring new usergroups for us to enable limited posting access, which is a manual process. so like DNT uses can't post in market forums, non-staff can't post in staff forums, but then we're left with a situation where either no one or everyone can post in rasc forums.

i personally don't mind letting others post on these threads - often their input is as or more valuable than any mod's, and we should make use of that resource if people are willing to contribute - but i do think we should be more harsh on others posting on scam reports. i'll be more harsh going forwards. curious to know how other staff feel

 

TBH everyone who posted after Malakadang said he would give a 3 day ban should receive that. It's stupid to see people post their opinion on the user and their opinion on how accounts get banned. If they have an opinion they should PM it to a staff member. It's just getting out of control that it has 5+ pages of bullshit.

Honestly this makes scam reports more eventful, they used to be dull and dreary. Now they're fun and cheery!

 

@FireZ just posted a thread in the spam forum a few weeks ago saying anyone posting dumb shit on scam reports would receive an instant 1-week ban. So there's warnings and rules in place to prevent it, it's just that it's not being enforced. And I say that with no disrespect to staff. Just to inform OP

 

You may think this is the issue.

In reality the outcome of these reports have been change. Change to old, stale rules that do not cover all parties. These are not nitpicks, they are a manner of refining how the market is handled on Sythe. Note that a majority of the rules have been drafted by minimal market users and are not regularly updated.

Just report the posts and they will be removed, Gone are the days when only staff/omm's could post on those threads.
