Interesting to see the growth and development of bots!

 

Man I remember all of this stuff, I still have so many RSC macros on my old computer. I remember all of the fatigue OCR handlers, like Coldfeet, Leo sleeper, Isaac Sleeper (or something like that), Sleepwalker... I never knew how they worked then.

I believe I still have my STS, SBot, and a few other scriptable RSC bots.

 

This was awesome. I remember using the mining bot based on colors.

 

The first time I cheated on RS, I was using aryan. Thinking of that brings back memories, after aryan was nerfed, it was scar.

 

Nbot was awesome back in the day

 

An explanation of each:

File #1:
A version of STS for RSC (packet bot, very very efficient, used AutoRune syntax so you could script without knowing how to program), which would show enemy HP levels. Very useful for pvp.

File #2:
Aryan, basically the king of bots, originally developed by Speljohan. When Aryan broke and the team drifted apart, he started working on RSbot.

File #3:
A compilation of good scripts and plugins (most likely), compiled by our very own Cool372 (name changed to Osmosis).

File #4:
In RSC, to combat the botting problem, you would gain fatigue as you gained exp in skills. Once your fatigue hit 100%, you had to sleep, and a captcha would come up that you would have to pass in order to wake up at 0% fatigue again. At 100%, you would not gain any exp for anything. LeoSleep was not really the first, but was definitely the best OCR tech to automatically solve captchas during sleep. This would be run with STS for easy botting.

File #5:
NBot, developed by either Nullware or Nuky D. Basic color bot which works relatively in the same way as RID, though much less flexible and a lot more basic. Nbot was specifically developed over top of the previous bots released by the author, which were even more basic and were aimed at specific skills like mining and woodcutting.

File #7:
STS, which was the best bot ever to hit the RS scene since AutoRune. A script would look something like this:

^That's a power miner right there. It used packets, so there was no mouse at all being used (not even a second mouse like in modern bots). It recently broke with a few of the new mudclient updates added to RSC, but has since been replaced by more modern bots.


Some pretty sweet nostalgia here. This is the kind of thing that I was really into back when I joined the site

Does anyone remember/remember using the sudoko bot for that NPC i think was located in Al kharid (Like back in 08). Must've been the best money maker without any skill requirements ever.

 

Ah so disappointed that the images aren't working, would love to see how those early bots looked like. Lately I've been getting so interested again in the history of rs cheating, if anyone could share threads/images/personal stories that'd be awsome. Already read the stuff on kaitnieks and ofcourse "A Brief Glimpse at our Past" from Evil cowgod, but if someone can supply me with more good reading stuff that'd be great.

You can clearly see how back in those days (early 2007) every yew tree got harrassed by atleast 6 bots (apparently most of those were using a premium packet bot called rsdemon?), bots selling thousands of d bones on level 3's in the most basic outfit without any shame, good old days .

Edit: Also wonder why in nearly none of the rscheating history threads, is spoken of this chinese package bot (rsdemon), when this is probably the rscheat that has done the most harm to runescape ever (and probably caused some game changing updates such as removal of free trade and wild). Quote from WT-Fawaki on an old thread on moparscape: "50% of Runescape f2p's population at daytime and 70-80% of nighttime f2p's servers are filled with bots. I would happily assist you in a shocking tour through Draynor/Lumbridge/Port Sarim and all you will see around you are bots, 1000's of them, on all f2p-world. The scope of this bot is amazing. It is far worse then back in the aryan days. And yes there have been many investigations in the past. It might be usefull as part of your investigation Crack Miners, to provide with a survey of previous findings of the "clientless" bot."
