Solution to collective minirank expansion

As it stands, the addition of new miniranks are obstructed by the idea that hoarders will want to obtain them, and by doing so increase the size of their already large postbit.

There is a level 6 donor perk which states:

This implies that the maximum you can show is 30. What purpose does this hold if restrictions aren't enforced? Why not enforce this, and eliminate users from visibly showing ALL of their miniranks that bypass this limit? It just makes their postbit obnoxiously repulsive. 30 is more than enough to choose from which you want to show.

There are 110 miniranks, out of those 110, 65% (59) are tradable. Most of which are aesthetically poop, and hardly in circulation.

Pump some life into this place by adding more, but restricting visibility.

 

A better idea, delete all of the tradeable miniranks and start over, because this system was done fairly idiotically.

Imo, for holiday ones (which quickly fill up,) have one minirank that keeps count, and they're all on profile. Idk, just an idea, i hate them altogether. Your suggestion is fine though, i suppose it'd help.

 

That would really piss off the people who have spent money on miniranks for the sake of selling them for profit (LOL what a joke). But if there was a way to do this without some huge backlash, it seems to be the most beneficial route. At the same time, they're just miniranks. I don't put any value in them, I doubt others do either.

 

If large collections of miniranks are actually slowing down page loading times I wouldn't mind restrictions being put on the number that you are able to show (And yes, I know this theoretically exists but isn't enforced).

 

If its a rule, enforce it, or scrap the rule and let it stand as is.

But I wouldnt get rid of all miniranks, Bogdan and Harleigh would be very upset.

 

Getting rid of miniranks is out of the question. Those who display more than 30 will still have their miniranks in their minirank manager, they just wouldn't be able to parade them all. With enforcing this, there will still be flexibility.

 

Harleigh has all the tradable miniranks to date, 59 tradable ones and some unreadable ones. I believe she told me she spent $1500 on miniranks. How would you feel if you spent so much money and your limited to only showing 30 of them. I feel you should be able to show off your whole collection, if you can't then what's the point in even having miniranks. I say remove the rule where it says you can have 30 visible miniranks. Make it so you can show as many miniranks as you want and don't give me some excuse that the page takes long to load are you kidding me.

 

- She wasn't coerced to pay that much for 32x32 pixel images, she did this on her own personal whim.

- We shouldn't cater to one person over the large majority.

- You shouldn't be able to display as many miniranks as you want to. Limits are necessary to assure that overflooding doesn't become a thing.

- I did not mention page loading times, nor do I think it's an urgent issue.

Should we feel bad for her and discourage the addition of new miniranks, or do we proceed with the intentions of creating a more thorough system?

 

Just make it that all miniranks can be displayed, however each user has the option to disable all but 20 being shown.

 

But at what point is enough, actually enough? This doesn't fix the problem either. The miniranks would get hidden, sure, but the postbit would still be stretched as if miniranks were there, even if you manually take them off via minirank manager.

If the main concern is to keep it so you're able to display all the miniranks you own, there are other ways this can be done without affecting the length of a users postbit to the point of absurdity.

 

You can 'show them off' on your profile. Why should 1 or 2 members spoil it for everyone else?

I've sent a PM to Matthew about this a while back, it should be enforced.

 

I like the idea of miniranks having no restriction on your profile, but on your postbit, being restricted to 30 max.

That's what the original idea was I believe, that your profile was unrestricted but your postbit was reduced to 30 so as to not stretch screens or look like crap.

vote to just make the exact same sythe theme, but with miniranks disabled, that way the people who want to display can see them, and those who don't want half a page full of autism wont see them.

Default 20 or even 10 shown so the site doesn't look ugly af for new users, with an option to change it to anything in the settings panel would be perfect.

 

if the page takes long to load up all i have to say is get off your potato and get a new computer. My computer is a shitty laptop from like 2011 and it opens up in less than a second lmao. thats the shittiest excuse ive ever seen
