Pre sure it has to do with that he was going to be demoted from Chall to master, but then other players around his LP, either got demoted/others in master weren't promoted to Chall and he remained. So, the system assumed he was demoting into master, but since other players must have lost/won in a way which enabled OP to stay in Chall, thus the promo screen.

Or...just some random bug.

The W/L doesn't matter, just because he's 53-38 at Challenger and some guy is 53-38 in silver doesnt mean the silver deserves to be challenger, the thing is that he won 53 and lost 38 to Diamonds/Master/Challengers and the silvers won to bronzes silvers and golds

 

Not really.

His win/loss is so because he was most likely challenger/master last season, and thus placed higher and thus requires less games to get back into challenger.

I.e, bronze season 4, prob need 300 games with a 75% win rate to challenger. Alternatively, diamond season 4, prob need 40 games with a 75% win rate to challenger.
