So apparently, Jagex can detect clients now.

If Trilez isn't bullshitting, we're all fucked. Read up on it ^.

Hello community,

Update: The detection patch has been released! TRiBot is once again safe to use, so feel free to continue botting.

After some investigation into the RS client, I have noticed a new piece of code in the RS client which could potentially flag users of 3rd party clients as botters. So I did some more investigation/testing and found that Jagex does use this piece of code to ban accounts. I am 100% confident that this new detection method has led to the increase in bans. Further, all botting clients which have not already patched this detection method are affected. So please be cautious when using other botting clients, because if they haven't patched this detection method, you will be banned.

But do not let this worry you about the future of botting. I am working diligently on a patch for this detection method, which should be released within the next few days.

I advise everyone to stop using non-LG TRiBot until I release the patch, unless you don't care about your account. Once again, I also advise everyone to be cautious when using other botting clients, for the reason stated above.

Due to the nature of Looking Glass (LG) and the nature of the detection, this detection method has limited to no effect on botters using LG. I haven't had any accounts get banned solely from using LG, but for the same reasons this detection method is capable of getting legit players banned, I am going to say that this detection method has a limited effect.

This isn't the only [possible] detection method in the client. I usually silently release a patch for detection methods so that it takes Jagex some time to release that we know of the detection method. But since I am 100% confident this detection method leads to bans, and that many people have been hit by this, I am writing this to inform everyone on the situation.

I'll keep everyone updated on the status of this patch.

Thanks,
TRiBot Staff

Im using my own bot and i'm not touching the client's code, lets see if I get banned. Only I use my bot, no one else. So this is the ultimate test. Also Trilez is among one of the smartest client developers in the industry, I honestly doubt he's bullshitting.

Exactly, well let me know how it goes bro. Have you received any bans yet?

Yeah i saw the yesterday when i logged onto tribot. Im kinda happy Jagex did that and kinda pissed because i cant bot anymore (thats if its true)

Until there is some proof shown, this could just be another marketing scheme just like mirror client/looking glass.

I'll wait until results actually come (ban rate increases/decreases) before making a judgement on whether this is legit or just a marketing scheme

I thought it was already fairly well known that Jagex can detect clients, and that this plays a part in ban rates? Was this not the case?

I've spent 3 hours PROPERLY investigating the clients code yesterday, didn't find anything new. Either Trilez never checks the code and his information is super outdated or he's just spreading propaganda to get more users. Wouldn't be surprised by either.

You know how large the rs client is right....? It is entirely possible you missed something only looking for 3 hours

I'm no coder but I thought Jagex would be able to to detect clients long ago? It seems like such a stupid thing or their part if they never implemented a method for that kind of stuff.

While specific proof of Jagex detecting clients isn't old, it's been long theorized that they can and have been doing this. Given that this is just now being realized with proof, it can only be assumed that Jagex has been doing this for quite some time. And even if bot clients release a patch for this particular detection method, I can guarantee you that it's not the only way for Jagex to do this, and there will be more down the line. What this means, is that even if patches are made by client developers, there will always be periodic segments of time in between Jagex's release of these methods and the moment of patch, in which users are susceptible to bans.

Imo, I wouldn't want my risk of ban to be reliant on the developer's ability to patch these methods effectively and speedily.

Having spent time at most clients and being involved in the scene before most of you even heard of Runescape, I can assure you that the concerns TRiLeZ found in the client are a real issue that most clients haven't addressed yet.

Your reasoning makes no sense, because you've been around for a while you know Trilez isn't wrong? That makes no sense at all.

I can assure you that Jagex has never added code that targets certain clients. (Apart from the modified client modification code that doesn't detect bots like Tribot, TopBot and OSBot). They could indeed add this code at any time. I'm sure that Jagex is competent to do so, but just doesn't want to do it because from a business point of view it's a bad idea.

We know he isn't wrong because we know what the detection methods are, and how it's been fixed. I am a tribot moderator, we have no reason to lie for a "marketing ploy" the small influx of customers it could possibly create would never be worth the long term effect it would have on our credibility. Just because you cannot find what he has, do not assume it doesn't exist or is simply a lie. You over looking something doesn't equate to another developer lying. You have an over-all poor attitude and approach to this news and ultimately your customers are the ones who will suffer from it.

I have seen a growing number of ban related posts lately on all sites.

TRiLeZ identified an issue, a hypothesis was constructed, the hypothesis was tested to determine that the element in question does have a factor on client detection and account bans to both extremes.

Users have reported success with the latest updates.

I will take another look at the code soon, but I'm fairly sure that he found something that was already known.
