Today I stayed late in skool finishing off my coursework,
and decided to get the train home.

I didnt have a ticket so I thought meh- both on and off stations have no barriers so wth lol

anyway, i go up the stairs after getting off my train - and there I see around 10 police officers with about 4 sniffer dogs.
Oh sht Thinks I... They gonna ask for a ticket..

well nah... they just sniffing out crack and drugs, but that got me to think =>

These dogs... how do they get trained for this service?

My first initial thought after careful consideration is this:
The police get the dogs addicted to crack. They are then deprived of the substance and therefore have huge cravings. With a good sense of smell, the dogs will be able to sniff out the drug and get moody lol.

thats my own opinion ^^

post yours!

No, the dogs are hooked up to microchips in their backs which feed information on what they're looking for, thats why they usually have a little scanner, not unlike a barcode reader at a shop.

No lul, they train them by making them smell crack or what-ever type of drug etc. They let them smell the drug, they then lay 4 other objects with different smells down and the dog sniffs out what he first smelt. Easy

Although they do have to retire the dogs, sometimes they track down the drugs and snort a lot of it. This gives the dogs brain damages, Sad isn't it.

You all fail. Dogs can be conditioned to associate certain smells with positive reactions from the trainer. You can put a nice-smelling treat with a substance similar to cocaine, and eventually, the dog realizes that you're looking for the cocaine.

Dogs still get into drug dealers items. Also I am not saying they are trained with cocaine, but the do sometimes snort it after finding it...
