The UK under went a smoking ban a month ago.

Do you think other countries should do this as well?
Do you think its right or do you think it violates human rights?
Will this help smokers quit smoking or make things worse?

----------------------
In my opinion killing people via second hand smoke is a greater violataion of human rights than taking away someones freedom to smoke.
In the same way its illegal to stop on yellow lights, but running down children instead of stopping is still a greater crime.

Plus quite a number of other countrys already have such bans in place.

The smoking ban is right it is best for everyone and future generations. If people do not smoke publicly it will not be seen as acceptable in communities and will not encourage people to do it in the same way. Also allot of people are likely to stop if the places they can smoke are limited. It stops people from doing it in the future and conserves the health of some of those who smoke and those who used to visit places were allot of people smoked.

Personally i think it's a great move, it's peoples own choice to smoke cigs, but smoking them in public and getting other people to choke on the second hand smoke is wrong.

You said it.

Also, smoking has its consequenses, many who smoke, may need medical help, which costs alot. Here in sweden, the medical help's money gets taken throught our tax money. That's right, WE (The people who pays taxes) Pays for the smokers to get medical help. That's alot of money in a year...

I agree with Slave,

Half the people that are afraid to go outside don't because of the smokers that come amongst the streets, who wants to walk around in public with a bunch of smokers, smoking around you/walking passed you, and smell it?.

I mean c'mon, it's their own idea if they want to second hand smoke, even smoke, get lung cancer, then die at a young age, I've seen so many people get lung cancer, because of second hand smoke.

It should be banned in public areas, half the resterants wont even allow smoking, which is a good thing, who wants cancer sticks in their food.

Anyways, Slave said what I wanted to, but I just agreeing with him, and everyone else who has.

The only place smoking should be allowed, is inside the smokers home. I hate seeing all the ppl, that my uncle has to treat, being in pain because of their involuntary smoking, it sickens me seeing young kids getting used to tobacco cause their parents smoke it in front of them. I really wish Canada has a permanent ban of smoking.

IS IT RIGHT?

Of course it's bloody right.
Why should non smokers have to take in other
peoples foul smoke and be destined to a fate
of death at 30 from lung cancer?

it means non-smokers can go out and not be basted in smokers horrible fumes so FUK YEA! Keep the damn things in the home only!!

God yes! I hope s happens in the US too I'm sick of the damn' smokers pollutin' the fucking air I breathe.

This is why the world is falling apart. Litsen. It is a complete violation of human rights laws. Are you fucking kidding me? Please, Theres alot more in our air than cigarette smoke, Plenty of other shut being pumped out by big corporations, And all the shit coming from our cars, Litsen, That is a sack of shit.

People, Stop sacrafising your liberty, People have been smoking for years its decreased over the years infact, The only time second hand smoke is going to effect you is if your in contact with the smoke directly, Dont have butt sex while someone is smoking and its not a big proiorty.

If they dont allow smokers to smoke on the street, I wonder whats next?
CCTV Cameras that watch you!? Microchips in your head!?

Think about your human rights. Research it, This is America FFS.

Canada has already undergone this also, you are no longer allowed to smoke in public places (restaurants, bars ect...) You have to be outside where there is no roof (so if you are in a outdoor sitting area and it has a canvas you aren't allowed to smoke there)

I have found this is very good, since I really prefer not to smell it when ever you go out. It is unhealthy for the people who work in bars or restuarants you allow smoking in other countries.

They really need this in almost all countries so that everyone can actually be happy. The smokers have been bitching about it because they have to walk a few damn steps to get outside. But this is defiantly the best decision that could have been made relating to smoking.

I agree Conman and that is already in place here in america but thats it.

To ban smoking just outside complety is a violation of human rights laws by far.

In AUS we got a no smoking in public bars and restraunts and I think thats enough.

Although i absoutly hate smoking, and will never do it, i disagree with the ban and i have my reasons.

Smokers who have smoked for 50 years (who just can't stop) should be allowed to carry on smoking in pubs etc. Also people who don't smoke should be allowed to go in to a pub without been hit with the smoke.

So, i'd say make some pubs for smokers, and some for non smokers. Also, i imagine in the winter the smokers will be VERY angry with having to go outside.

If they want to get rid of smoking, ban the sales of cigarettes, oh no they won't do that cos the government make too much cash of 'em.

I sort of agree withg this but with 2 different type's of pub's?

I think pub's should have a smoking and a non-smoking area..
