Slight Rant

I have a slight rant I want to air out. It isn't directed at anyone in specific, but I apologize if this upsets anyone.

Okay, so a new account was made on the forums a few days ago named, "harviex."
He made the account in order to sell his OSRS pure.
I know the guy. He scammed me through playerauctions about a year ago.
I've been on sythe for almost 10 years and am pretty active. I have nothing to gain from lying about it and am definitely trustworthy enough to believe.
I posted on his thread warning buyers so he made another thread. I posted on this one as well, only to find that he had reported my post and a mod deleted it.
This is where my rant stands. I'm trying to help honest sythe users stay safe and not be scammed. I thought staff members were also here to do the same thing? It's extremely obvious I wasn't lying considering my credentials and the fact that 1) he didn't even TRY to refute my claim, and 2) he joined sythe two days ago. You're letting scammers run the account B/S/T section of the forum. Time to start trusting your long-term members and increase the safety of the forums rather than just boosting your mod-action statistics.

The guy ended up scamming someone, Wins MM'ed it and got him banned. The buyer lost his rsgp.

Sythe is ruled by what i call "rule of law" meaning if you cant prove something, it has no place on Sythe or you'll pay the price(infractions/bans) for posting it.


Sometimes people posting warnings are 100% honest and in that case it is extremely annoying, but just as often people try downtalking compeititors or people they dont like and if I went and called every gold site besides my own a scammer, that might hurt their sales/reputation even though they never did anything to me.


Rule of law policy applies, just like irl, helpful sometimes hurtful sometimes.

 

Bus369, I appreciate your desire to increase your post count, but this thread is directed at staff members. Thanks for the input.

Each case is, and should be viewed on a case-by-case basis. As I said, I'm obviously not a competitor, and this ain't a gold site I'm talking about. I'm also not a november 2015 join date. I've never even sold an account on here.

I'm not looking for an explanation or realistically expecting anything to change. I'm just expressing concern and dis-contempt for the blatant provocation of scamming that is going on in the account BST section. It is getting worse by day, and rather than helping curb it, actions like this are adding to the problem.

Just "trusting" long term members and taking their word without proof will only lead to corruption. This is why you'll want to record every transaction you make and keep screenshots/videos stashed away. Should something like this happen again, you will have proof to back up your claims.

Sad to see a scam victim turn into a scammer himself.

 

Major Irony. Just goes to show, it doesn't matter how old you are, doesn't mean you're trusted.

 

I can't be the only one that laughed at this, and if you ever see this message why the hell wouldn't a mod delete your post if you're accusing them of scamming without any proof?

 

You being banned just answers that statement completely.

Sythe has a strict innocent until proven guilty stance which, I do understand can cause some ban evaders and scammers to slip through the cracks, however it's the fairest way to handle the situation without random members being banned. It's been maintained like this for years.
