Skype is messed up

The desktop version of skype suddenly has stopped working correctly.

Most messages aren't sending/coming through correctly, although some randomly will. Group chats aren't working at all.

I've tried re-installing, restarting my computer, turning off my firewall, AV removal and exceptions, etc.

The only hint I can give is that it won't let me connect to the update server, so I assume its connection related somehow. I tried downloading the full updated MSI version but no difference.

Works fine on my phone btw.

 

Honnestly, my skype hasn't had any issues except for the big downtime a few weeks back. Have you tried changing your languate settings a few times? I've heard it helps in some cases.

 

Only thing I can think of is that automatic updates are turned off? Not sure that'd make a difference since you have already installed the latest version, but something worth checking maybe?

 

Try installing an older version of skype since there has been updates to skype. It may have somehow interfered with your computer. Doesn't hurt to go back a few versions to what it was when it was working fine right?

 

Mine has this same issue wtf.... anyone have a solution for this? i sometimes get messages 5-10 mins after the person initially sends it...

 

Been happening to me lately also, I've had people messaging me without me even realizing because they haven't been showing up!

 

Past few weeks I've been getting a glitch or whatever where my messages and the messages I receive don't go through even thought I can clearly see I'm typing them and pressing enter. Cntrl+alt+del and terminating skype and reloading it usually seems to fix it if anyone else is having the same problem.

 

Just mess around with the setting / prefrences for skype and see if changing something there helps

 

I cannot connect to the update server.

I've done that as well, same issue. Think its some kind of connection problem on my end, can't figure out what it is though.

 

Until a solution is reached for this, go ahead and use https://web.skype.com for the time being.

 

That's what I've been doing, lacking features though.

 

Yeah. It really is... But it's what we have while Microsoft decides to pretend that there is no issue, when there is, because they can't sort it out.

 

I always keep my skype updated the only problem i ever had was, receiving two message notifications from one user.
