Wow, I never thought of that being a way they could track it. But I believe it would only be one variable such as:

int nAquiredFrom = ;

for an integer value which would indicate whether they got from trade,ge,making, ground, etc.

That makes sense, never thought of it. What I'm saying above is just that they probably don't have a complete history, rather just where you got the item from.
