Should homosexuals have the right to get married?

No. Now I'm preparing to be flamed but you asked the question I gave my answer

 

If two people are in love with eachother, of course they should be able to get married. Who the hell are we to tell someone that they can't share a love for someone of the same gender. Some of the most famous people are homosexuals, but we don't call them "faggots" or "queers" because back in the days, being gay was common, as it should still be considered common. I don't understand why we should have the right to choose if someone can or can not get married to their love.

 

We don't flame in the SFA. However, could you expand on your answer please? Why do you think they have no right to get married? Isn't love love? No matter the sex or religion or race?

 

Well thats quite a hard dream to realize. The government does so for reasons fiscally and morally (meaning to improve morale and support). Although i disagree, i see your point but think that it is an impossible situation.

 

Bump. Very relevant now that New York has allowed gay marriage. Haven't heard a valid argument against it yet.

 

I realize this has probably been said before but I doubt most people will go back and read forty pages of it.

In my opinion, it should be everyones personal choice. Homosexuals don't force you to he homosexual... Why do we have to force them not to be?
It doesn't affect you whether the couple on the other side of town is homosexual...so why do you care?

 

Yes, of course they should. Its offensive to say that they shouldn't be able to have the same lifestyle as someone else. In 60 years people, hopefully..., are going to look at gays just like blacks - people that were discriminated against once upon a time, but we move past it.

 

Gays are people too. Just because they rather be with another man doesn't make them inhuman.

Workaround:
Ask to have your sex legally changed at the SS office: You can do this with no operation / vasectomy /anything if you want. Then they have to let you marry.

LOL being gay and transsexual are completely different things. I.e. Gay men have no desire to be women.

 

EVERYONE should have the right to marriage.

This is has probably already been used as argument before but, it's pretty difficult to think of any other reason for why they shouldn't. I believe the question morality and religion should be kept out of the equation, as it should be entirely up to the individual to decide who they want to spend their lives with.

 

Go for the civil ceremony if you wish - but don't turn the christians into hypocriticals by going against their bible in their church, a shame to all christians who believe.

 

This. As long as it's not done in the church I don't see any problems with it, I'm not a Christian but I do believe it's a slap in the face to them if they do it in the Church.

 

Not all Christian denominations are against homosexuality. Furthermore, I'd like to ask why you think that any homosexual would wish to be married in a Church that actively preaches a message of hate and bigotry towards them.

 

I don't disagree with this, but then I think marriage should be eliminated from government entirely. Everyone should just have "civil unions" as recognized by the government and those who want to call it marriage can. But isn't it easier to just call it all marriage?

 

Marriage is for everyone. We are civilized humans aren't we? So are we suggesting here that gay people are less? That they don't have the same rights? This is ridiculous, as I see how many people have voted 'no'.. I really thought when I openend this thread that like 5 people would've voted no and the rest voted yes..

I honestly cannot believe that anyone is against this. The Bible says so? The Bible says a lot I guess, and half of the people don't follow it that strict anyways..

yes, i honestly dont see why people dont agree with this, everyone has the right to get married as it doesnt effect anyone apart from the two people getting married.

I believe in about 50-100 years from now, Gay marraiges will be a norm and more socially acceptable.

Looking at arguements in todays world against gay marraiges, mostly are based on Moral or religious grounds. I think society is changing in that respect.

I don't think they should be entitled to the same things as married straight couples. Like tax wise and stuff.

 

I honestly see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to get married. Gays deserve the rights that everyone else has. Why should marriage be an exception? Because the Bible says no? Says who? Gays deserve to be just as miserable as every other married couple
