    Shooter Games: The Effects

Recently, I have been studying video games and the effects that they leave on childrens minds, From what I've been learning all of the shooter/ GTA sagas leave negative effects on childrens minds. Personally, I believe this is non sensical malarky, but others beg to differ.

As for the GTA series, This rewinds back to the columbine massacre, The mother of the one of the boys said he had been playing grand theft auto vice city for hours on end eventually leading up to the shooting.

So please leave me your feelings on shooting games and how you think they should be dealt with. Thanks, Post away. :)

You'd have to be pretty messed up mentally to let a video game sink in. I bet if they ran psychological tests on that freak from columbine, they'd find that he would have been susceptable to almost any kind of intense violence.

Not everyone would be affected, but some kids who take it seriously and decide to try it out.

Some people it could, GTA didn't have any affect on me, I love the GTA series.. I would never think of going and stealing cars and shooting people.

the kids from columbine were on an antidepressant which affected their sense of empathy. hence why they didnt feel remorse for killing people.

If you play runescape, you should be inclined to dress up in blue armor and go around whipping people.

I wouldn't believe that shooter games have any sort of effect on people...

I beleive it can really affect anyone, I don't think it has anything to do with whether you have superior intellect, it is all subconscious, some become accustomed to it, and possibly even when you know it's fake you like it and it just kind of sinks in. On the other hand I don't think it has all to do with being a violent person, it can just affect people badly if in their mind they process it differently.

    LMAO!!!!!!!!

But back to the point, I think some of those games can leave negative effects on children who spend more time on those games than doing other stuff like being with there friends etc.. After they play these games enough and just see if they die our go to jail it just a new game not like real life.

To me, shooter games don't play a role in kid murders. That's like saying that if you play a car racing game you're going to go out, hot-wire a car, and street race the car at maximum speeds.

Also like saying if you play a skateboarding game, you're going to go out and skateboard.

    Not true IMO.

I play GTA alot... Xbox next to my computer. Hehe...

I'm obsessed with driving games though, normally on GTA i just get a 4WD and explore around.
When doing missions, i enjoy using the twin shotguns with unlimited ammo though.. Thats pwnage.

To me there is no proof that playing violent games increases your chance to be violent.

    Correlation!=causation

Violent video games will have more effect on less mature people than mature people. Less mature people will tend to take it more seriously and into mind.
