Sexting, breaking a law?

Age is 18.

I'm unsure of the criminal legality otherwise, but I would be certain that it would definately be up for toss in a civil court case. A mess that wouldn't be too fun to be in.

If you are caught sending pictures of yourself(if you are under the age of 18) naked to anyone then you can be charged with child pornography. Why is it so if you are sensible enough to do it?

 

Having sex under the age of 18 is fine, documenting it in any shape or form, is not.

 

Actually, no its not. The age of consent is 16 years old in Ohio atleast (not sure about other states) but you can still get charged by the parents.

I just find it amusing that the girl that killed herself, is the one that sent the pics and is receiving no blame for it(even though she is dead)

 

Take me for example. Im 16&1/2. If I make a porno of myself and I am caught with this porno, I become a sex offender and serve jail time. I might have to appear in court against myself. :O The us system is messed up, just deal with it. So nude pics of myself make me a Sex Offender for life- GAY.

 

While I can't find any law that says this isn't true, I highly doubt any court would convict a minor of possessing nude images of himself.

 

Which country are you talking about? Different countries have different age limits.

 

I believe if one decides to send nude pictures of him or herself over the age of 18, it is their choice and they should not be punished. But under the age of 18, many teens make mistakes/are not mature and decide to do something like this. There should be no major punishment to sexting or sending nude pictures of one self if both of the participants are under 18.

Why are they not mature enough to decide? They know what their body has, and what others have (hopefully) by the usual age of ten.(They usually have a sex ed course in 5th grade)

Any age should be it really. Government needs to stay out of sex. Regardless of age. I could care less if a 14 year old wants to get fudge packed by a 50 year old. As long as she/he wants it. I don't give a damn. They are trying to watch out for their future with the pictures but it's just a picture. A picture of someone naked is nothing. People seriously need to rethink the things they consider important.

 

I dont think it should be, but I think its stupid considering whoever you're sending it to now have the ability to send it to whoever they want to.

 

The only one to blame for the scenario the OP stated is the girl who was stupid enough to send the pictures. No teenage boy should be labeled a sex offender or charged with a crime due to the stupidity of his girlfriend.

Do you actually believe that? First of all, in the USA you never have to appear in court against yourself. Second, if the porno is of you and another underage person and you are the one making it then yes you probably will become a sex offender but if it is just of you then you would only get laughed at and sent to a shrink.

 

It's only embarrassing if you have a really horrible body. Which I doubt, if you're sending nude pictures of yourself to your partner.

 

It was incredibly stupid of the girl. But most girls at that age are trying to make themselves feel older and look older. And sexting is a way that most girls do it but I think that the boy should have his ass whooped'.

 

Dont send pictures, just have sex the normal way...pictures always fall into the wrong hands

 

It's stupid how the boyfriend was a complete dick about this. He did the biggest dick move ever. I don't think that it should be against the law. Think about it. Kids under the age of 18 are advised not to have sex and have kids, but they do it anyway. No one persecutes them. Sending pics over the internet, that really shouldn't be against the law. I mean, with people today, it's hard to tell who's really 16-20 nowadays. Like 2 years matters. I can risk my life and the lives of others driving at 16, but can't send nuudy pics of myself... It's really imbalanced.

a lot of girls were upset and regretted what they did cuz most guys are going 2 be
"look what i got bro" and then they going 2 be around 2 every1 eventually.
I think that its your choice to send nude pics, and you should be punished by being a sex offerder or anything like that, but if you parents what 2 do something then thats up 2 them.
As far as the girl killing herself, its messed up wat the guy did, but he should be punished because she chose 2 trust him with the pics
an if she was concern the least bit about them getting out then she shouldnt have sent them, but now,
she's killed her self for a pretty stupid reason
