I'm not sure whether this is possible to set up, but if it could I think it's definitely the way forward. There is no way you could get the money back, and it's probably the most simplest way to donate. Matthew wouldn't have to do much really, just set up number or whatever and watch the money roll in.

This is probably the safest way to donate aswell. Much safer than sending money in the post, unless it's recorded.

Also, if it worked out. You could change it a little so you could donate in amounts for example:

Text 'Sythe1' to donate $5 or equivalent in £'s.
    Text 'Sythe2' to donate $10..
    Etc, etc..

I decided to expand on this.

    Agree.

But not sure how difficult it is to set something like this up.

I support. I'd prefer to donate like this instead of sending in money/paypal etc.

Then they ask for permission. Isn't rocket science. If they don't and donate lots, they get a smacked bum.

But, the percentage of people that are going to do that are minimal.

Not if you put "You agree that after sending this SMS you agree that you can't take the money" just said in a much nicer language of course, haha.

Anyways, I would totally do this! Just make sure to make it available for Europeans too. This shouldn't be too hard. I've seen other sites with this.

    I totally support!

Interesting idea, beats donating RuneScape pins. If it can be done it'd be pretty cool.

What's to stop people using "pinlines" to illegally donate to sythe? Then sythe gets in some trouble. edit: oh nevermind, that's PBP not SMS. sorry :p

Also, there would be a LOT of people canceling the charges. All it takes is one phone call.

Well, if a substantial amount of people start to cancel the payment, the donating method stops.

That doesn't make any sense. You'd rather pay more to donate instantly than to send the exact amount by mail, and your reason for this is because you're always broke? =/

Payments by SMS always cost more than the actual cost of what you're buying/donating.

It would only cost more if Sythe/Matthew made it cost more. Surely you can set it up so it only costs you x amount and your standard network rate?

Support. I would probably use this, and if too many people take their money back, just stop it.

Actually, this is a very good point. Almost like the 'Pin Scam' that some people do. Ask to borrow peoples phones and get a pin from it.

In the UK at least, its your insurance that deals with 'unauthorised calls/texts' and when you make a claim against the insurance company saying your phone was stolen, it must have been reported the police ect, have a police case id, which I think would be more trouble than its worth and risky.

This. A lot of people would donate for the trust, then scam, then get banned, then get their money back.
