Allow 1 open auction thread in marketplace per artist (separate from services thread)

I have seen it twice in the past couple days.

Auction thread is locked under the reasoning "1 thread per forum."

Really shouldn't be this way, though.

• Auctioning templates (sigs, layouts, etc) can't get proper exposure on main thread
• You could compare it to selling an account vs. leveling an account for someone. Everything has been done when you sell an account to someone, but some people want something custom done to their own liking.

Honestly they're entirely separate, and disallowing separate auction threads seems to inhibit a different kind of gfx piece from being sold. Also, it has been allowed in the past back when Kina and Moon sold pre-mades from time to time even though that's not a very relevant point.

TLDR: Can't see/sell pre-made gfx pieces properly in your main thread; should either create a new (dead) section for auctions, require an [Auction] tag for these types of pieces, or just allow people to create threads for these pieces so long as they don't auction off more than one at a time



I would like to add that auctioning pre-mades doesn't even happen often at all, but by setting some kind of ground rules, we could allow these threads to stay open (when someone sells pre-mades once every couple months) while limiting them to 1 per artist to avoid excess if it were to ever come up (which it never has).

 

the selling an account (one-off sales/auctions) vs training one (orders from your main thread) comparison is a good one. i'd be totally fine with this as the graphics marketplace is pretty underdeveloped. would prefer them in a sub-section though, else people looking to sell single gfx will create a "main" and "one-off" thread for essentially the same thing.

 

Strong no. It's simple: add all of your accounts onto one thread. Say I'm the title multiple accounts for sale and more people will open it in hopes they find an account. When you sell a lot of stuff in RS, do you individually say each item per line that you're selling? No, you say "bank sale" and a flock of people trade you. Same principle, people will bid on the accounts they're interested

 

That comparison honestly doesn't relate to this at all. You don't sell hundreds of pre-made graphics items at once and tell people to offer away on them. The principles are entirely different. There's no "premade graphics sale!" where you show people hundreds of already made pieces and tell them to offer on whatever they want. In graphics, you might have 1-2 premade pieces that you may be looking to sell as-is, which are not included in your service.

• Pre-made = selling an already done piece where you are strictly looking for offers
• Service = creating a variety of graphics put into one service thread

One is a custom service and one is a sale of something already made. It's one thread open at a time where you can once in a while sell a piece that's already been made but just needs text changed. If you want more than one piece sold at a time that is indeed pre-made, they would have to be in the same thread.

 

Instead of a specific rule I'd rather leniency be given in relation to one thread per section at staff discretion. If someone's thread is closed and they genuinely believe it should constitute its own thread, have it stated they can PM a moderator for a second-look.

In the situation you described, I'd be fine with someone have an auction thread paired with another of some type as long as it isn't abused.

 

Support, but only if these threads are in a sub-section, like @Superfluous mentioned. There will probably be a lot more people selling pre-mades, if this gets accepted, and I don't think a lot of people would want to have the graphics marketplace filled with artists bumping their auction threads.

 

Yeah I get the merit in a subsection, but like @Tmoe said, this doesn't happen often enough tbh to have a whole subsection. The point of this if just so that when the threads pop up selling pre-mades (once every couple months) they don't get locked

 

I misread this. Sorry I thought you wanted one thread per piece. If you want one auctioning thread and one custom thread that sounds fine to me. Sorry I misread it

 

I support this so much, Iwe been a victim of auction closing 2 times in the past few days and it makes me sad. If we start to auction separate pieces in the shop thread its will become messy af. The subsection for gfx auction's would be really awesome.

I think the auction of premade graphics is a great idea.

We just have to figure out if there should be a separate subsection or not.

 

A separate subsection for auctions would probably be better for organiztion but the section would probably be pretty dead aside from a few sellers, unless we expand it to selling all sorts of graphic resources, such as textures and presets.
