    Selling over Paypal?

Now, I generally sell my RSGP almost exclusively over PA, but I want to start selling over here. I'm kinda wary about paypal, as I know how easy it is to get chargedback.

Now, I know a lot of people would just say 'don't take paypal' but the majority of the major sellers still take it no problem, and I doubt they just take the huge losses in chargebacks they receive.

I know there's a few things that garner mild success, such as claim+cancel.

I also have heard of people actually doing what PA does, which is call the person's house, do a reverse lookup on the number to confirm the address is the same on the paypal, have them confirm their information over the phone and record it to send it to paypal as proof if need be.

Anyone done/tried this? Any other ideas? I'd really like to be able to take paypal with minimal risk.

I was skeptic about this to, I plan on only selling larger amounts, and doing the transactions over player-auctions hopefully what I said helped you out.

There is quite a few things that you can do,
    1. Only sell the people that have verified paypal.
    2. Sell to only trusted members.
    3. If you are trusted, and say that you want to use a middle man.
(These above 3 get rid of 75% of the scammers, depending on if you're buying or selling)
    4. You can also have them write something in the note section like this.
    Code:
By me sending the payment to the owner of the paypal, I have no intention in ever charging-back and if I do charge back I would like the charge-back to be named void in a sense of security. I would also like to state that the payment is for virtual goods in which I have already received.
(Also, in a sense to help you I searched around for a guide involving player-auctions: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?p=8319146#post8319146

I hope that was somewhat helpful.

    Selling over Paypal?

The large gold sellers who use PayPal have an actual business set up under their PayPal accounts therefor making it impossible for scammers to charge back without many legal issues

I believe they have that to, but I also believe with a business you have to pay all the paypal fees. :p

After a while you get the hang of determining whether it's safeish to sell to someone through paypal. You take into account their vouches, posts, etc ofc as well as the price they're willing to pay, their mannerism, the amount they're looking to buy, and other cues that you're working with a scammer which you'll pick up with experience.

Personally, when my profit margin was smaller I forced myself to sell only 20m max to somewhat sketchy people (I could afford to lose that). If you turn away too many people, you'll ending up making less than you would from being ultra strict about who you sell to.

Of course there's no sure fire way of preventing charge backs on paypal so its best to just accept that it will eventually happen and ensure that it isn't for a large amount when it does.

Overall I'd avoid taking risks with paypal but not avoid using it completely, just use it wisely. There are tons of other safe payment options (WU, MP, LR, BT, PA) which you can sell with in bulk.

Best of luck if you do decide to sell gold :)

Interesting information, so basically the only way is knowing that they're trusted.

    You mean a premier/business account?

Verified Paypal or not, an unauthorized claim and there isn't much chance on winning the chargeback.

The code doesn't work for unauthorized claims or if the buyer uses a Credit card and calls his bank.

Just link people to your PA (Check my thread for an example). And people who you deem trustworthy can use Paypal.
