The Dark has been demoted.

Following a collective staff decision, The Dark has been demoted. If you're unaware of the situation, you can have staff justify their votes here.

Hopefully this will cease the questions. Anyway, here are the votes:

 

I heard of this last night, and I thought he stepped down... I thought he was doing a pretty good job, but there must be a reason for that vote, because you guys know what your doing....

 

I'll be the first Moderator to post my vote and justification.

I voted to demod him. I didn't want him to be a Moderator any longer because I found having to moderate alongside him difficult for the following reasons.

- I was banned from the Official Sythe.org Ventrilo server by The Dark himself, with the ban reason ''Sorry, no homosexuals allowed here'';
- I was told exclusively by The Dark that I'm ''not allowed to be homosexual'' and that I ''am not allowed to display homosexual behaviour around him'';
- Unb4nn3d was tormented by The Dark after announcing his sexuality, including taunts such as ''do you deepthroat'' and the like.
- Being insulted repeatedly in the Staff Lounge for simply asking him to extend his answer.
- Being ganged upon by The Dark and another unmentioned person. This was probably planned.
- He is aggressive towards me and I don't like being spoken to in an aggressive tone.

For those reasons, I didn't want him to be a Moderator anymore. Disregarding those, these were the reasons I posted regarding why he shouldn't be a Moderator:

- Under the old system, he bypassed the normal voting system, and was promoted by Pen dictatorially: he earned his position on one person's word. This is no longer how the staff structure works, it seems, and wasn't in the past, but he floated into the position nonetheless.

- It seems unreasonable that people like x9 are subordinates of The Dark, when he hasn't even earned his position through the voting system which so many others had to. I don't mean to be rude, but I feel if The Dark had been voted on as a Moderator at the time he seized Head User Educator, I doubt he'd have been successful.

- Before the introduction of Team Leaders, he wasn't even a Moderator! He simply had basic moderating permissions such as moving and closing threads: he was infractable and could not globally infract like he can now. In this respect, he previously wasn't a Moderator, yet somehow is now.

- He offered to leak to LifeSavers and Unb4nn3d over Skype.

 

Odd, I never knew he was demoted I just thought he was resigning. Who will take his place?

 

i agreee with you with that reasons finn, respect its all and you can choose what to do with your life but...

personally i agree with the dark in this point.... as i said RESPECT !!!

Finn... i am NOT homosexual... and really.. i dont like your sig... the text its awesome... but i dont like teh picture..

the dark CANNOT tell you wat to do with your life.... but you CANNOT tell him what kind of images he can see.... and due to ur posts are all around the forum... you MAKE him see homosexuality .. and really ... i think ur not allowed to force him to see that.

So whom may say that you may dictate that we are allowed to see pictures of people who are straight? You're saying that Finn is not allowed to force others to see that, when in fact, it's a choice. He has the choice to avoid looking at the signature, as all do, but you still seem to do so.

Personally, I don't agree with this statement for one reason. This is not an offensive response, I don't intend it to be offensive to you and i'm sure you won't take it that way, but people can speak aggressively if they please, it's a characteristic trait. Although I don't know him or you, I hope you two can resolve your problems, because clearly there is bad blood.

 

I've read this topic completely again now,
and I saw Finn's reasons, and I do totally agree with the demoting.
People that say things like that, does not deserve to be a mod.

 

A good decision on the staff''s part. This was definitely overdue but I'm glad you finally saw fit to right this wrong.

 

Everybody is making it seem like only Finn decided to demot him. It was a staff decision and there was 14-2, It wasn't only Finn.

 

I aggree with some of The Darks views, But it IS out of order to speak out about them, especially if your a staff member, and people are meant to 'look up to you'

Overall, sounds fair. The voting was heavily one sided, so in my mind that makes it justified enough anyway

 

I voted to demod him, and if I didn't, I meant to, after I saw Finn's reasons.

If I am not mistaken, I think he still has his username image...

 

Maybe he'll learn that his opinions should be kept to himself and not pushed onto others. The reason why I voted to demote him was mainly because of his attitude and disrespect not only for Finn, but to anyone else whom he may have hurt.

Good riddance.

 

Alll of the reasons I have seen thus far do justify his demotion. I do wish, however, that if staff had the time to call a vote to demote him, that they would call a vote when it was obvious that TD would lose his status, in order to replace his position. I'm sure staff has reasons for what they do, but now we're going on 24 hours without a moderator, and almost no answers from staff as to who is getting TD's place.

 

honestly, ive only seen one of his posts and it was horrifying, he was very rude and inconsiderate towards a member of sythe.org, pease broski, and have a good life.

Sure, he may have been a bit of an asshole - but he was one of the only moderators on this website that don't act like some fourteen year old. He knew the way a moderator should act (I am not talking about what happened personally between the moderators) and that should be respected. Thanks guys for getting rid of one of the last good moderator's on this website. Finn, go burn in hell. First macroman dies, now The Dark's demoted, what next?

 

Clearly, if Dark was insulting you on the base of homosexuality, that is harassment. Harassment is not to be tolerated in the REAL world, nor should it be tolerated on Sythe.


However, the reason ("He is aggressive towards me and I don't like being spoken to in an aggressive tone."), in my mind- is not justifiable. If someone tells you to "Grab a dish-towel", and it sounds aggressive, you can't fire that person because you dis-like their tone. As for this one, you could have tried to reason with him, and he is still vowed NOT to change his tone around you, than it is justifiable.


Other than that, I stand by the moderators judgment on this matter.

 

I voted to keep him because you can't cast him out just for some complications among staff... There obviously weren't enough reasons for a such harsh action.
