Close please. Creating a new, better guide just focused on PayPal.

Pretty nice guide for sellers, might want to add other payment methods, and include the risks of using them. 9/10

I'm not sure if there are many guides on this, but this guide will teach you how to avoid scammers on Sythe and other Black Market websites. This guide is not 100% fool-proof, so please still use common sense. This guide is mainly for people new to the black market. This will not include EVERYTHING, so pleast help me expand it by posting feedback. Please put the code below into your signature, so more people read this, thus less people getting scammed.
Always proof read your guides. This has a few handy tips on what to do, and what not to do regarding paypal. As david493 said, you should expand this guide with other payment methods such as WU/Mail to really cover all preventions on "how not to be scammed". I also think Sythe Official MM's should be added somewhere in this guide, they provide an even greater chance of not being scammed. Overall you have made quite a sufficient guide, and I hope you expand on it, in future. ;)

Yes, I plan on adding many more things to it and proofreading it; just not enough time today.

This thread is on it's beta stage.

Let's get right to the guide, shall we?

1. PayPal

It doesn't matter if the person goes first or not; they can still get their money back. Here's the few things to look out for when getting payed via PayPal:

a. Make sure their PayPal is VERIFIED. This means that it is linked to a bank account, thus making it safer. If it's unverified, REFUSE to trade with them. Always ask for ascreenshot of their account, and next to "status", it should say VERIFIED. Here's an example.

Even if they send you a screenshot, it could be fake. Tell them to send you a PENNY as "goods" so you know their address, and know if they're verified or not. Once they send you a payment, click "Details" next to the payment, which will show you the information about the Payment.

b. Make sure they do not pay with CREDIT CARDS. They can easily report these as "unauthorized payments". They can report these with banks too, but banks are a little safer.

c. Before they send the payment, tell them to PASTE THIS INTO THE SUBJECT BOX (subject of payment)
"I understand I am received irreversible and nonrefundable services. These services take time to do, and therefore can not be refunded."
This will help you incase they file a dispute. Make sure they send payments as "SERVICES".

d. Make sure they claim and cancel! Here's how they can claim and cancel:
1. Go to resolution center, and file a dispute as "I did not receive item"
2. In the reason box, tell them to paste "I am filing this dispute until the services are completed by seller."
3. Once they file a dispute, go ahead and find it (it should be easy to locate) and on the bottom of the page, click "escalate to a claim"
4. Check the two boxes, and on the message box type "I am escalating this to a claim until I finish the services requested."
5. Once it is escalated to a claim, tell the buyer to CANCEL the claim, and for reason put that he received the item.

2. General Knowledge & Confirmation

It's always good to know information about your buyer, and keeping it as evidence.

a. Make sure if you're getting payed with paypal, their address is confirmed. If it is, tell them to send you a penny so you know their address. It has to be sent as "Goods"

b. Ask them to verify their Runescape Name, Sythe Name, MSN/AIM, PayPal (if they're paying with it), address, and PHONE NUMBER with a PM from their sythe account to yours, and also in the MSN window. SCREENSHOT it, make sure the information matches. You can check their phone number by calling them, going to www.sitepal.com, click "Demo" and trying their demo. There you can make the "bot" say what you want, and the person can repeat it on the MSN/AIM screen. This way you know their phone number is theirs.

c. RECORD EVERYTHING. This includes screenshots and videos of EVERY SINGLE THING THEY SAY. This is for a back-up plan in case you DO get scammed. This way you can report them on Sythe and possibly file a police report, and know what they said, thus knowing their address, phone number, etc.

d. Record the trade. This includes dying in bounty hunter, so they don't accuse YOU of scamming. This is very important.

More tips coming soon.

Seriously, proof read.

Good guide, well set out and readable.
I never knew how to claim and cancel so thanks a ton for that.
Improvements you could make would just be what The Dark said, proof reading but all in all a good guide.

Version two will include other sections, and will be in .PNG format, so it will have a design to it, more organized, more examples.

Thanks for the feedback.

what if they charge back for unauthorised access? ie. pay you using a library computer then go on their own pc and file a report.

Then you fight back reasonably in a dispute. One time someone did that, and I won because I explained to them how it was "gaming services" and could not be refunded, and he pasted that into the payment box too, and in the claim & cancel.

Once he claims and cancel, and even manages to claim again (not sure if you can) it won't be as "powerful" as the last claim. Usually when they're verified they're considered more responsible too, and PayPal isn't a joke so they do IP checks and everything.

It should be clear for everyone, but its nice to have guide for those that dont know. Got already scammed for 300$ :$ Paypal blows anyway :P

PayPal blocked my credit card because they found out i was under 18.

Grave this guide is amazing *STICKY* :D
