Hello everyone. I'm very passionate about information security and that's the field i'd like to work in the future. I'm currently in my third college year but i'm sitting out the winter since i took the summer semester just to avoid the cold.

Currently using this time to learn more programming and develop some cool security tools. Also helping with the SytheRSPS so that's fun.

However, I would also like to use this time to start getting certified in the field and was wondering if anyone has ever done any Sec exam such as CompTIA's sec+ or CEH. I heard there's also a Microsoft Security one too. If you have, which one do you recommend i begin with and can anyone recommend a book that will help me Ace the exam?

Any advice regarding any of the certs will be appreciated.

I currently hold Security+, with plans to get CASP, or CISSP.

What certs you go for depend on what exactly you're looking to do. Are you looking at an Information Assurance job, or are you looking at something else?

Currently studying for the Security+. There are many resources available - Some free, some premium... Without any previous experience it is very hard and takes a lot of learning to not only know the knowledge... But to also apply it and recognise it in situations. GL.
