'Search' feature donator only

I notice that the search feature is disabled due to abuse, so maybe we could make this feature a donator only perk?

If it was a $100/200> perk i doubt it would be abused?
Or make it $25> as suggested by moes6223

It would have to be done based on user proportion. e.g making it a $5 donator perk would be pointless, as there is so many users with it. The higher the donator level, the less users there are, and the less likely the donator is to abuse a privilege at risk of losing their account.

I support that. donators wouldn't risk their account by abusing it. and sythe really should have a builtin search feature.

search for $25+ would be a good idea.
if the feature only is for $100+ donaters then there would only be a few people with access to that feature, so search for $25+ donators is better.

Btw, I don't support search for $25+ because i am a $25 donator. I already donated another $25 so i am gonna be a $50 donator in a few days

It's not disabled due to abuse. It's disabled because it's slowing the site down by a considerable lot. I think it's due to come back around vB4 release, whenever that is I have no idea.

But yeah search (or lower search timers) for donators would be nice.

 

Support, even though it's going to have to wait I could see the benefit of having this feature.

Basically you would have to create a new usergroup per donator rank for this, so for example if $200 donators had the search timer reduced to 15 seconds, but $500 donators had their search reduced to 10 seconds, Matthew would have to create separate usergroups and change the coding in the donator centre for each usergroup.

Matthew has also stated he's not really going to be adding/changing much in the donation centre unless it's absolutely necessary until vB4 arrives (whenever that is).

 

We're waiting on really minor things now till VB4 comes out but I have a feeling SQLing out the $5 donators can't be too hard and adding a new usergroup might be rather painful but doable.

 

There are many things that are disabled because of abuse.
I believe people who donate to the community should get ALL these privileges.

It can be annoying but there's nothing google wont find, just put up with it until vb4, whenever that may be. I'm sure it'll be incorporated then.

 

Mods and admins don't even have search. Denied.
