Scamming Curiosity

Hey Team,
I've always wondered what the exact rule was pertaining to this scamming scenario:

Person A's sythe and skype gets hacked and scams a user 1m DeadMan Currency while using his account (lets say it's about 1:$50 today), resulting in the Person A's sythe account in getting banned. Of course, the only way the user A could get unbanned from sythe is he paid back the 1M to user B since the hacker took user B's money using user A's account. However, user A played it off and decided to wait a couple of weeks after the report to which the Deadman Currency is now 1M:$5.. so that's $45 cheaper! Should user A pay a Deadman currency worth $50 (since it was the cost during the time), or is the 1m DMM sufficient enough?

.. if it makes a difference, User B is a gold-seller/gold-buyer and so the cost of the currencies matter to him.

 

If there was a drastic case in such a scenario like you described the person who is/was to be refunded would have to deny the initial refund attempt of 1M explaining that the value has changed.

If it was me handling the report, the refund is to be the value of the trade at the time of the scam.

Obviously we cannot get this right down to the dollar, but in the example you provided I would ask that the refund be the value of the scam so 50$.

 

Haha yeah, apologies for the drastic price difference. Even if it were to be $30, rather than $5, I didn't think the final response would make a difference. The main point was to just have ENOUGH price difference to actually matter. But yeah, that would be a logical answer, I was just curious. I also wasn't sure if that's happened here before, and if so, what the solution was.

If you look at some of the pardons/disputes, you'll see users offer to refund the "10m 07" or such that they scammed 2 years ago; however, the mods that respond require that they refund x amount, as that is what the value of the amount scammed at the time was.

 

ardy is spot on. if it's a drastic difference, you should mention it, and you'll be refunded accordingly.
