The fact of the matter here is that there is not enough people doing scam reports. This thread isn't about getting into being scammed, also, if it prolongs the person from scamming who has say 600 posts and 10 vouches, by banning them and forcing a new account (ban evading) it clearly helped because now that person would have to gain more trust to be able to scam again.
I understand if leecher reports don't get done, it's not hard to gain that amount. If there is multiple reports of people who are decently trusted, they should be dealt with...

It's much more important to stop and educate scam victims into not getting scammed the first time, rather than dealing with the consequences otherwise.
dont blame the mods? get a freaking middle man and dont go first... its simple plus there 1324023 ways to recover an account if its urs so dont buy accounts make ur own then holy shit lmfao if i was mod why would waste my time on the computer over you if you were stupid enough to get scammed
if you were smart ud know this and buying pins and gp are so easy to scam people from so buy them from trusted people ? u cant really cry
Scam reports are hard to deal with. They take time and a ton come in every day. If you didn't notice, we just lost more than one mod and school has recently started for many of our staff members giving them less time to volunteer their time.
Plus, banning scammers doesn't help very much. People need to learn how to not get scammed.

I agree. I keep rethinking this over and it just doesn't get more true.
People need to stop themselves from getting scammed in the first place.
The benefit of having a post count before you start trading is slim. I've dealt with many legitimate leechers and it was a pleasure to trade with them.

Okay it's not that I got scammed, who the fuck cares I got scammed I recovered my account instantly I DONT GIVE A SHIT.
The fact is I pm'd 4 different mods who can do scammer reports. There has been 5 reports of the same person. WHY isn't anything happen, WHY are these mods being so lazy, WHY do they just not care? That's the point theres no excuses for you guys and you KNOW that it's true.
I'm not trying to be rude, don't get me wrong or anything.. and It's not that easy to use a Middleman either. They aren't always active, there isn't always a cheap one, it's stupid. I'm just trying to get a point across that semi-trusted people who scam and have accurate reports SHOULD BE BANNED. Even if they do make another Sythe account nobody will be going first to them for a LONG time because nobody trusts them. it WILL prevent scamming if you BAN existing scammers who are SEMI-TRUSTED. I honestly can't believe you guys are trying to argue against that.
The point isn't "don't get scammed use a middleman" The point is semi-trusted scammers who continue to scam and nothing happens are the ones who should be banned because it WILL prevent them from scamming again for awhile unless they just recover an account, like jeezus christ you guys keep changing the real topic here.
Sorry for being kind of mad about it, but it's just agrivating that you guys aren't understanding what I'm trying to say and say that "oh if we ban people it doesn't do anything" like what the hell?
Well the truth is that it hardly does anything. It's important to get rid of as many scammers as possible but banning isn't always the answer. If less people let themselves get scammed by using an Official Middle Man, less scammers would exist. When you ban them, they make a new account or change their IP and keep coming back.
Alright sure, I understand that. I don't think you're seeing what I'm saying. Who cares if a leecher, or a member like me scams someone or someone with 100 posts and 2 vouches. They are NOT trusted, and it's your own fault.
It's the people who get multiple reports, have over 500 posts, have 10 or more vouches, they should be the ones being IP banned. Not all of them know how to change their Ip, and if they do, they have to make a WHOLE NEW account anyway, and re-gain all of that trust they used to scam in the first place.
Official middlemen only accept verified Paypal, right their you're limiting SO many people to have to trust one and other, use a non-official middleman, etc. If Middlemen accepted non-verified Paypal it would make things way easier for everyone else and prevent scamming as well. The whole reason I was scammed was they don't accept unverified paypal or I wouldn't have been scammed.
Like I said, I don't care that I got scammed but there should still be something done to those 'trusted' users that continue scamming. They get away with it and it's stupid.
Reports are tedious and aren't fun. More moderators wouldn't solve the problem; everyone gets burnt out.
Your assumption of how 'there is no actively' is incorrect. A few of us actively read reports and build up cases(usually without replying). I recently banned the user 'hello111' after consisting seeing him involved in an impostor scheme.
Yet as other staff have mentioned, it's impossible to truly ban someone. Every day I ban 3-10 users for ban evading, which tells you something. It's possible to change your IP in five minutes, and some people, such as my self, have their IP changed naturally multiple times per day.
With regard to the lack of middleman claim, I'm afraid your argument is completely fallacious. I'm a free middleman, and haven't gotten any requests worth $50.00+ in five days. Inventor is an official who only charges a small flat rate of $5.00.
Many more users in the middleman forums are able to handle the common, lower-level Sythe trades free.
Something we need to do is focus more on prevention/recognition. Newbies need to be linked to guides as soon as they're registered, and more of these guides need to be written.
I see what you're saying Nick, but a moderator solely for that section would do some good, although we already have many moderators. It's the problem of finding someone who will do it and keep up on the difficult and voluminous amounts of work.
I do side with you though, because I do know many of you are active in the section otherwise you would be impeached of your jobs. We need reports to be handled more efficiently, period, whether it be more mods or a specialized mod.

There are many users who help you guys with finding ban evaders. For example, I reported one a month or two back in the Report a Scammer section. Should be fairly easy to tell that he's ban evading with what I posted, and yet he was never banned for it. It was a couple weeks later that he was banned for scamming again (I believe so anyways). Some cases can be dealt with just by looking and taking a minute or two of your time to look into it.

What is an example of a guide you'd like to see? PM it to me and I'll try to write one out. Hopefully other people will do the same.
Sure making these guides will help people not get scammed, but there's not helping everybody. There will always be scammers. Hopefully we can make it so less people get scammed, and that'll make your job in the Report a Scammer section easier (while still giving you something to do).
Actually sectionals are only allowed to have perms in their own section and globals are supposed to handle scam reports but since that didn't happen, they expanded report a scammer perms to sectionals who desired to help. Its quite the load though, it can take up to an hour to ban just one person because of all the searching, investigating, verifying, etc.

So what's wrong with the one I Pm'd you? Read the conversation, look at his email in his signature, boom banned. It wouldn't even take 10 minutes, let alone an hour. Scammer reports aren't that hard, I've read them and matched them up to the person myself pleanty of times. I wish I had access to ban people there, I would show you guys whats up lol.
Sigh. For years these complaints have been made, and for years no real solution has been presented. There are always going to be scammers, and there are always going to be scam reports. They aren't going to go away. It's an endless cycle; a vicious, swirling maelstrom. You answer a report and a new one has been posted. Endless. Eternal. Non-ceasing. However you want to phrase it: they do not go away. The joy of these endless reports is, as a trader on Sythe.org, the ability to search through them. For example, if I were to do a trade with someone, I would search the forum using the search feature and look for cases where the person you're about to trade with has been previously reported. If they have, you naturally do not go forward with the trade. It's a matter of cvommon sense. We could have hundreds of Moderators, but more Moderators do not cure idiocy of over a hundred thousand members. The stupid get scammed; the intelligent will prosper and use the scam reports as usefully as they can.
