Scammer section Mods.
Honestly, it's horrible, straight to the point. There either needs to be MORE scammer mods, MORE activity in that section. Sure the spammer reports go great, every report I did got done. Why doesn't anyone care about the scammer section? Honestly, this is the site that is most scammed on for blackmarkets, and there is no activity in this section. There is over 11 Pages of scammer reports, nothing gets done. Tons and tons per day, nothing gets done. It's bad enough to have all those scammers out scamming, but for the same person LIKE THIS GUY: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=690190 to be getting away with scamming multiple times, after multiple reports, just because there isn't anyone active in this section, it's bad.

This is what I think of Sythe, and it's true. It's either you're trusted or you're scammed. Almost every trade it's I can't pay OMM fees, you go first. Even the people who have 15 vouches 500+ posts will scam if the oppurtunity is good, because they know they will get away with it. Can we PLEASE see some activity in this section, it would make everyone alot happier, including myself. You can start by doing this guy: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?t=690190

I agree with this 100%

I agree with this 100% too.

Sythe is horrible. I'd say just promoting random trusted sellers like Inventor419 seems like a good idea since they know a lot about the business.
Spam reports don't even matter, many scammers even report people on their thread and get the people muted even though they were warning to not to trade with a scammer. Like seriously.

Scam reports are hard to deal with. They take time and a ton come in every day. If you didn't notice, we just lost more than one mod and school has recently started for many of our staff members giving them less time to volunteer their time.

Plus, banning scammers doesn't help very much. People need to learn how to not get scammed.

True, but it would help for people that have scammed before and not been banned yet.

Sure, people need to learn how to get scammed. It's hard to come to an agreement when you've been trying to sell an account for a long time, especially when people don't pay for any OMM's because the price is stupid. If the price was lowered, if there were some ACTIVE, free, trusted MM's it would also prevent this issue that has been going on since forever.

It's not that people don't know how to not get scammed, it's making an agreement on fees which shouldn't be so high to start. On top of that, you would think somoene who has been here a few months, has a few hundred posts, and double digit vouches wouldn't scam you right, but no, they do, which is why banning DOES help, and WILL prevent future scams, especially IP BANS. Don't even say it doesn't help, like come on, really?

Take a look at the guy in the thread I made, I mentioned it in my first post on this thread. I reported him 2 nights ago, 2-4 other people did as well, he's still scamming and seeming legit to people. IT DOES HELP clearly!

Then why are there rules against scamming? Should we just make an IQ requirement for people joining Sythe? Do you believe that scamming is okay if the person being scammed is dumb enough to fall for it?

I agree with the OP. We need more people in the Report a Scammer section. Report a Spammer's been looking good, so good job with that guys.

Scammer section Mods.
Agreed.. They are still NEVER dealt with. Putting them in a notepad and sending them to a mod is no longer sufficient because they never do anything about it

Perhaps some promotions are needed.

Well, it would help if the scammers were IP banned. However, Mods can't check IP's anymore according to Mr. Finnigan, so you can't even do that anymore.

*EDIT*

Indeed. I did 2-3 pages of scammer reports around a month ago because I was frustrated, and the Admins got angry at me because I'm an ex-mod.

Edit: List removed. You are not a mod anymore unb4nn3d, you do not have a say in the bans of other users.

P.S. My post is going to be deleted by Matthew. D:

Inventor has a $5 flat rate. Thats cheap.

Scammers will do anything to scam. People who have been here for years have scammed. People with 1000s of posts have scammed. People can make a new account on Sythe every minute. Username bans only make it take longer before they can scam again. You can change your IP in less than 5 minutes. There is no way to keep scammers off of Sythe. Bans just help slow them down, not solve the issue.

Mods work from the back forwards to be fair.

No. Scamming is wrong. Read what I said above. That is my position. You will not stop scammers with bans.

Nick just did a few... And the dude the OP is complaining about is banned.

IP bans are worthless. Pretty much.

Of course we don't accept notepad submissions. It's not fair for users to get banned on the judgment of another user with no ban or dispute permissions. Unb4nn3d, save your time, because this applies to you also.

Promoting more mods doesn't help. Most don't do reports at all, and those that do usually burn out. The problem is simply that no one likes doing them, or else doesn't consistently have the time. Nonetheless, reports are always answered eventually. It is almost always a user's fault if they get scammed, even more so when the scammer has existing reports against them; all they have to do is run a search of that section. I've said it before, but just because a report isn't closed doesn't mean it's useless.

Maybe in time, you will be able to decide that.

Yes, somewhat, as people can use proxies. However, it creates difficulty, but people should just use an MM.

Except it's not based on the judgement of another user without permissions. It would be based on the one with the given permissions, influenced by the one without. All the staff member needs to do is read what it listed, investigate the thread, and take action.

I know this, lol. I read your PM quite clearly. ^^

That depends on the one that is promoted. There may be some sectionals that are able to help, but they aren't allowed to do scammer reports, from my understanding.

Most don't do reports at all, and those that do usually burn out..
Giddy, Tengauge, and myself were ones that did a good job in the section.

Giddy and I both resigned, and Tengauge was demoted due to an issue, I believe.

Well i think that the mods do a great job. Scammer reports are hard to deal with aswell as everything else on the forum.

B0m if don't like it. Piss of back to Cryptx.

It takes just as long to read a recommendation, then read the entire conversation and decide whether that recommendation is accurate.

I really was hoping you wouldn't reply to that, but of course you would, because you're incredibly smart.

This is why I stopped doing them, because it's actually giving you twice as much work. Not only do you have to look at the report itself, but also what I've written about it, when you still have to read the entire report and make your own judgement.

Yet again, I'm sorry. =\

I Honestly Agree with this 100%. I Reported so many scammers, yet most of the threads went down to the ground.

Reports are tedious and aren't fun. More moderators wouldn't solve the problem; everyone gets burnt out.

Your assumption of how 'there is no actively' is incorrect. A few of us actively read reports and build up cases(usually without replying). I recently banned the user 'hello111' after consisting seeing him involved in an impostor scheme.

Yet as other staff have mentioned, it's impossible to truly ban someone. Every day I ban 3-10 users for ban evading, which tells you something. It's possible to change your IP in five minutes, and some people, such as my self, have their IP changed naturally multiple times per day.

With regard to the lack of middleman claim, I'm afraid your argument is completely fallacious. I'm a free middleman, and haven't gotten any requests worth $50.00+ in five days. Inventor is an official who only charges a small flat rate of $5.00.

Many more users in the middleman forums are able to handle the common, lower-level Sythe trades free.

Something we need to do is focus more on prevention/recognition. Newbies need to be linked to guides as soon as they're registered, and more of these guides need to be written.

One way to combat ban evaders is to place requirements on the market. That way once they get banned, they have to register a new account and wait an X amount of time and make an X amount of posts. Getting rid of accounts with no activity in X amount of days will also prevent people from stock-piling accounts. Then again, adding these requirements will bring in new problems.

It would be real nice if moderators kept up with the reports to where they do not pile up, and instead of saying "blah blah we're not paid blah blah we'll do it when we want" they should attempt to do more so the scam, spam, and dispute sections are clean. This would stop people from complaining, and would generally be a benefit to the website.
