Fuck Skype

so I was just playing rs with a friend in a skype call, and randomly I see my profile sending messages even though Im logged into skype. They shut me out of my skype and im not even gonna try to recover it. This is the second time my skype account has gotten hacked, anyone know how to stop this horseshit?

 

Use a microsoft account for your skype and turn on 2fa

 

Take a look at discord if you're looking for a service to talk with friends on. I honestly would have dropped Skype a while ago if it wasn't the main form of communication here on Sythe.

 

get skype through your hotmail account then you can set up 2 factor authentication

 

apart from the 2fa thing (which has worked for me), i know this used to be an issue. a few prominent sythe members got hit with this ~2 years ago, myself included. i think there may be a way for someone to claim you're operating an impostor account and get your skype shut down that way, but regardless, its a shitty situation

 

use a seperate skype for business and keep them seperate or use discord, discord is actually really nice and me and my friends use it when we do csgo comp

 

While Discord seems like a promising solution I don't think many people use it (it's relatively new compared to Skype), so you might have trouble. The best option in your case would be to recover it or get a new Skype using a microsoft account and use 2fa. If you're only looking to voicechat you might consider TeamSpeak, I know a lot of video game players use that for voice comms.

 

It's also not very secure from what I've seen. I'd never use it for business, but I used to be in a few "Skype Calls" with friends and we've all moved over to discord because it's easier to chat and hop in and out of channels depending on what game we are playing.

 

Like the previous posters said 2FA would be your best option if your forced to use skype.
