Scammed/ PP Chargeback
Hi,

So I recently went through a transaction with skype user rstrader, (since been banned for an unrelated, or serial chargeback offence on Sythe). I sold him 100m 07, which he paid for via PP, and sent me a forward of the confirmation e-mail to confirm the sale, which was MM'ed by Mootrucks. The sale seemed to go perfectly smoothly and he even vouched for the service.

Upon receiving the gp however, I was e-mailed 3 days later from PayPal saying that the transaction had been charged back, and have now been left with a -$123 balance. I've called PP to dispute trader's claims, only to be informed that the buyer must admit a fraudulent chargeback in order for this dispute to be resolved.

Current evidence:
- Skype conversation
- E-mail receipt
- All recorded Sythe conversations with both middleman and buyer, confirming Skype details

Any help from the Sythe community would be greatly appreciated as I'm left dumbfounded these situation still occur in 2017.

Thanks guys.

Sorry to hear, you posted this is the wrong section though, this section is for personal support, people that need to talk about (mental)health issues, addictions or seek advice or a listening ear.

You most likely won't be compensated, there is always a risk involved when accepting payments through paypal as the buyer can claim back his payment because paypals customer protection doesn't cover intangible goods like OSRS Gold.

The buyer can also claim that his account was hacked, and still claim back the payment if it was sent as a gift.

If you want more information about how to safely use paypal in situations like these you should ask some of the gold sites that accept paypal as a payment method for their gold.

Sad to say PayPal always sides with the sender of funds..

Because it would be catastrophic for them if their whole atmosphere crumbled because of mistrust on how they handle funds.. for buyers..

So instead they pass that on to the sellers.. receivers..

The same reason Amazon & eBay refund buyers in a heart beat.. they wouldn't exist without them & if the wee little buyers don't feel safe.. that would be their end & they know it.

In the future the only unfortunate answer is don't accept PayPal.. which sucks too since then kids mostly will be like "omg scammer won't accept PayPal" because they feel like they'll have no recourse to chargeback..

It's not always an easy game we play.. & that's a decision only you can make for yourself whether or not you care to..

Happy trades homie :)

Have you tried actually calling their support via phone? It's actually pretty good and if you say you can provide all proof that the gp was sent then you could potentially have a chance. For the future though I recommend when taking paypal to ask for ID with confirmation that they are buying the gp and sending an invoice payment. Best of luck and lmk if it works :)

I won't fill your head with false hope like some of the people on this thread, there is nothing you can do

To elaborate, the only way that paypal would refund the money to your account is if they chargedback claiming that it was for item not received. If that would have been the case then you could just tell paypal that it was for a digital item and that it was delivered electronically and provide them with a link to your website (but since you don't own a website and they don't consider skype conversations as proof) that would be hard to prove without owning a website. The other way would be if they charged back claiming that it was an unauthorized payment then you would need a copy of their government issued ID, A picture of the last 30 days worth of transactions from their paypal account, along with a copy of a bill, or a piece of mail that contains their name and address. You would also have to prove that the IP they used at the time of the purchase matches their current IP address (and without a website you can't exactly prove that). Even then they would be more likely to side with the buyer because they don't support the sales of virtual goods

It depends on what he charged you back on,
If he charged you back on fraud , he basically used a vpn on his account to charge you back and claimed he was hacked so it's gg.

I recommend starting by ringing PayPal, Sometimes a phone call is a good start , he will most likely win the charge back but hey it's worth a short,

Dispute it and show any evidence you can but I don't think it will help much as paypal no protect people who sell vitual goods,

Good luck your in some challenge now!
