Scammed over $200, what do i do?

Ok i know this isnt the topic place for this but i couldnt figure out where else to put it but its a major issue. I was scammed by Nummy over $200 and i got him banned from sythe yesterday for it. But he is still ranting on skype about selling me stuff and asking for my personal information and i told him absolutely not until i get what i paid for. And he has been hitting me up for almost a week now. and i very nicely told him im reporting him to the police for fraud if he doesnt have it to me by a certain time tommorow. And i told him the american time so he cant try an shake this off.

But i have a question if i report this to police wont i get in trouble because buying runescape gold is illegal. or is it only illegal in the game! Or what he get introuble because he is selling jagex product?

im not giving away my personal information any whether he gets me the stuff or not but i figured i would play back at him!

He ran away right away when i told him and goes
    "Ok thats fine.
Im going bed, ill put the gold on in the morning , good night." and logs off of skype!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
So i heard paypal doesnt refund back over virtual goods scams!

And now lets get to the chase. Others say call the cops others say its a waste of time. But the truth of the matter is he is asking for my personal information and trying to sell me more stuff when he has not given me what i payed for it. I know its only $200+ but seriously.

Do i let it go and just look at it as a lesson to be learned or take action?

    The police won't do anything.

This is a lesson learned, and to recover, you can say you did not authorize this payment. Ask staff if you can though first.

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, $200 is quite a bit of money. I am happy to see justice was served.

It will be really difficult for you to get your money back. First, try talking to the guy who scammed you, try and see if you can convince him to repay you. If he refuses, argue that you will be creating a dispute on PayPal over the issue. (You can still do this.) If nothing, get permission from the Sythe staff to dispute the payment. You may need to call PayPal for some help with this. You'll need to decide whether you're going to speak the truth or say you didn't send the money, someone had unauthorised access to your PayPal account.

From here, you might have some luck. While PayPal doesn't support Virtual transactions, generally the person who sent the money gets there money back, and the buyer losses out. (At least in my personal past experiences.) Like I said before though, definitely get permission from the staff first, otherwise it may be classed as counter-scamming. You should be fine though, considering you had enough proof to get him banned.

Good luck, and again I really am sorry to hear about your loss. Good luck trading in the future!

where i live, ( beijing) locals get jailed for upwards to 6 months i mean the kid was already there 6 months and all he did was snatch a rigged police purse meaning he was set up, and those are juvenile offenders, one of my friends whos also a foreigner was jailed for 2 weeks and the ONLY thing he did was punch a local in the face... being a foreinger didnt help squat.

im just saying, he can be arrested and sued, dont listen to all these other people.

The system of law is there for a damn reason.

It's a lot of effort to track these people down though, and then enforce the law upon them. The time and costs probably aren't worth it.
