Is creation a website worth it?

Is creating a website for gp exchange between RS3 and OSRS worth it?, what do you guys think, should i do it?

 

im actually right there with you, but i think its worth it if you have the right amount of buyers.

 

That's why, i'm thinking in waiting a little bit more, and in the right time, create my own website.

 

Also i believe payment with paypal is alot safer? not sure though

 

If i create one, would be just for swapping, if i ever open a gp shop, i would only take paypal from trusted users or use playerauctions, but my idea is just a website to exchange gp from 07 to eoc and eoc to 07.

 

Try it as a thread, then a thread with a livechat, then if it's still going well get a site. Site's can be costly to maintain (assuming you get a decent one).

Best advice would be to follow Roary's advice.
You have very low reputation atm, so you have to get that up a bit before you should start investing that much in a professional website.

 

This. It's not worth your time/effort if no one's going to trade you in the first place.

 

Since swapping is legal ingame, it's less important than having a gold selling site. You should definitely work on your rep some before you rush into making and having to maintain a site.

I don't think maintenance is really that costly, all you need is a standard hosting package unless you get huge amounts of traffic somehow, or if you decide to hire 24/7 support.

Just creating the initial website though is probably going to be your biggest cost.

 

Even hosting & livechat isn't really a cost you want to cover when you're just starting out and your rates have to be better than the competition to get a place in the market.

 

Well, I'm assuming this is once he gets past his initial phase and wants to get into the maintenance part Just outsourcing for a VA or two though is going to be a thousand or so per month...(or is outsourcing for gold sites cheaper?)

The rates/reputation establishment is going to be really difficult though, there's already a lot of reputed GP sellers as it is. The initial costs for set-up are going to be ridiculous, I wouldn't be surprised if you would have to operate on a deficit/break-even for a good few weeks/months before even gaining a foothold...

 

If you have the passion, motivation, and money to do it, yes. If you can code it and design yourself, even better! It can make your site pull in much, much more revenue and put you at a choice to expand, employ, etc.

Why make a website that will get 0 organic traffic when you can make a thread on a RS forum with 100k+ users...

Unless you have a advertising budget for your RS Swapping website I see no point.

Not really... Its like me making an loan company and having no customers / traffic to the website.

What I mean is who searches on google 'EoC to 07Rs swap'... No one lol.

I still don't think your statement is correct. A lot of sites count on the word-of-mouth, current users, etc. It's not all about google SEO, but people search "eoc to 07 swap" all day probably.

Anyways, he can start from forums, advertise his name and site, build vouches, build users, build traffic, build customers, customers will say : go to www.hisgold.com etc.

He can start from 0 traffic, and get 1M traffic daily if he really WANTED to.

OP clearly thinks starting up a website will bring business.... If he was going to depend on just the website then what I am stating if correct; The website will fail if he just opens it up...

But if he has experience and built a rep first and some capital then a website would be perfect... As he could build a website and spend money on advertising to bring targeted traffic to his website.

The point I am saying a website is pointless if no-one is going to look at it..
