    Russian Spies?

Anyone know anything about the 10 Russian spies that were found in America?

It was only briefly mentioned on the news over here.

    Russian Spies?

    http://www.nationalpost.com/news/un...ree+agents+posed+Canadians/3212330/story.html

Stewart Bell, National Post · Monday, Jun. 28, 2010

TORONTO — The FBI has arrested a Russian spy ring whose members were posing as Canadian citizens, the Department of Justice announced this afternoon.

Eight “deep cover” agents working for the Russian Federation and two others on a similar mission were arrested Sunday in New Jersey, Virginia and Boston.

An eleventh suspect remains at large.

Three of the agents had assumed identities as Canadians named Donald Howard Heathfield, Tracey Lee Ann Foley and Patricia Mills.

The agents had been sent to the U.S. Infiltrate the highest levels of U.S. Policymaking, the indictment alleges.

Most of those arrested are alleged to be “illegals,” highly-trained Russian intelligence officers who had assumed the identities of Americans in order to avoid detection.

While they were identified in indictments as having names such as Richard Murphy, Patricia Mills and Donald Howard Heathfield, those are almost certainly aliases.

A Russian illegal was arrested in Montreal in 2006. He had been living under the false identity Paul William Hampel while working for the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, known by the acronym SVR.

Very interesting. I wonder who sent the spies to the US?

    Russian Spies?

Also, if you google "Russian Spies", it comes up with many articles dating back about 5-10 years ago talking about Russian spies found elsewhere in the U.S. and in Canada. That's a bit alarming.

    Example: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1022559,00.html

That article dates back to 2005 (almost exactly 5 years ago). I highly recommend reading that article. Apparently the Russians had 100 known spies in 2005 stationed in the U.S., which is roughly the amount the Soviet Union had in the U.S. before/during the Cold War. Like I said, it's a bit odd.

    Russian Spies?

I wonder what russia is up to. They won't tell us - these spies should be held hostage until they do tell us.

    Russian Spies?

Russia will probably deny any involvement with the spies, and the spies will more then likely not tell them anything.

    Russian Spies?

They would pose as Canadian citizens.... Anywho I guess this is what Guantanamo was for, detaining spies and terrorists until they spoke.

    Russian Spies?

Apparently the police were onto them this weekend but they waited until after the G8 and G20 summits to arrest them. I heard that one spy took the identity of a Canadian baby that died in the 1960's. That's pretty much everything that the news was saying this morning.

I honestly didn't think "spies" existed.
