With EoC and no new content or F2P on Oldscholl, the game isn't attracting anyone. Just look at these trends. At its peak in late 2006 the game was attracting its peak number of users. It's down to a mere 1% of that now.

Ever wonder why you see less and less noobs everyday, it's because the veterans are the only ones clinging on to the nostalgia. It sucks, but in a few months time there will be ~10 000 playing OSRS, and then less and less until it becomes RSC.

What do you guys think killed it off? The lack of a community? Kids getting lives? No, the game we loved was strayed off from what made it great, it started emulating other games and now it is almost unrecognizable.

Yeah It's a true shame. First months of OSRS i was playing alot and it was like 30-40k online at the times, i obviously knew that it was gonna sink abit after a few months but now when i go on the site i see 10-15k people online. I have really been thinking about what to play since i've gone back and forth from World of Warcraft to this but sadly enough i think i've played enough Runescape since it's not as fun anymore.

07 is dying because jagex was STUPID and made it members only... if it was f2p & memb it would always have some people coming back. more then it has now atleast....

F2p is a nonexistent community nowadays, used only for botting. F2p is a shell of the effort Jagex has put into the game for the past decade, people either subscribe or don't play.

Why do I care? Because it's probably tied with the basketball as the thing I've spent the most of my time on and now it's dead.

You may be right about the botting problem, but nearly everyone starts off F2P. Like I said before, the reason the game is dying is because the veterans don't see the game they loved and newer players don't find anything to love in EoC and can't access F2P Oldschool.

The 2 week free membership was actually, in my opinion, a very smart business mood. Anyone who plays for 2 weeks is likely hooked and will subscribe.

I don't think RuneScape will ever die, simply because of all the updates jagex is bringing into the game, honestly - I anticipate the players of 2k13 doubling up when HTML5 releases... but that's my opinion of course

The issue is for Jagex is clearly: make 2007 f2p, and have it's economy ruined. Or keep it p2p and have it's player quantity ruined.

Maybe because runescape become to complex for a new player to fit in? To make your character live well in the game, you need lots of game knowledge.

Runescape isn't dying anymore, it's already dead.

Very misleading statistic. The google rate for the phrase "runescape.com" really shows nothing. At its peak, people were more curious about runescape, but who today really puts "runescape.com" into google. Everyone at this point already knows about the website.

    Here are some facts:

Runescape in its peak had about 150 game worlds. If they were ALL full, that would equate to 300,000 active players. No such peak was ever reached, at best, there were 200,000 active players.

Today, runescape still reaches total active players over 100,000. Playership is not down to 1%, it's down to about 50-60%.

Runescape is making more money than ever from increased subscription costs and in-game purchases like SoF and Solomon's Store.

In conclusion, don't spin useless statistics like google search rate of "runescape.com" to prove your opinion. Remain objective, look at facts and real data, and then make conclusions
