Runescape 3? Will there be one?

Hmm.. Just thinking.. Runescape 3.. Will there be one?? What will it be like??


I think there will not be one for about 6-10 years because Runescape 2 is doing just fine... Although updates suck, and people leave.. They still gain..


Opinions pleaaase.

Yeah, I doubt there will be a RS3, they will just keep updating the current one.

 

@Zero_Rush - A google search revealed Mechscape was canceled, and was replaced by http://www.stellardawn.com/?cs=1 Which is being released in 2011

 

Runescape will be like wow.

They won't make a wow2, they will just keep adding new skills till they can't brainstorm anymore. Dungeoneering was like an expansion.

 

I don't think there will be one - RuneScape 2 was a necessary upgrade as the updates they wanted to do were not viable on RSC but they can now basically do anything they want with RuneScape 2.
As soon as "Stellar Dawn" or w/e comes out then I think RuneScape will suffer for some time and they won't plan on making any huge upgrades to the game.

 

Runescape is going to be half dead in a few years when Mechscape comes out. It's only called RS2 because there was a hugeeee update from classic. Jagex aren't gonna make such a big update.

 

There will be more graphical updates in the future, no doubt. But I don't think they'll ever release a new RuneScape again.

 

Wth is Merchscape? And for them to release a new "Runescape 3" the graphic's will have to be seriously outdated.

 

Well this theory is already wrong. Have you ever heard of runescape classic?

Ontopic- Imo pre graphics update to me is like a new runescape. I just consider it a new runescape. If you think about it, its really not that much different than when they went from rsc to rs2. The map was the same and so was the items and what not. We are playing rs3 currently if you ask me.

 

What was the biggest change from RSI to RSII besides byebye wilderness?

 

The new HD graphics was supposed to be rs3 already. They made an huge change. So i'd term it RS4*

 

Probably not, since Stellar Dawn (Jagex's new project) is coming out next year and they'll probably divert a lot of resources to that.

 

Wilderness removal was all Rs2...

From RSC - Rs2, I think the biggest change was mostly the graphics and some of the gameplay (no fatigue, can't wc after your inv is full, etc)?
I wasn't around for it though so I don't really know.

 

Too much time and effort ( Time is money! ) to make a new runescape, when they can just keep updating the current.

 

No, I'm pretty sure they will only stick to updating Runescape 2.

Just like the major graphical overhaul a while ago (couple of years back)... I think Jag will continue on doing stuff like that, releasing new skills, etc.

 

by the way runescapes updates have been, WoW is the runescape 3

 

Even if they do make a Runescape 3, it isn't going to affect Jagex's revenue unless they change the game to much in the way that people aren't finding it enjoyable anymore.

Like the PvP Changes, and the Trade Limit, heaps of people left, but most of them found themselves coming back to the game and enjoying themselves alot.
