Rumours: Sony plans UMD-Free PSP 2

Kotaku is reporting that a developer at Acclaim, David Perry, wrote this message on his Facebook and Twitter accounts: “I hear Sony FINALLY has the PSP 2. And thank goodness, they’ve removed the stupid battery-sucking UMD disc drive. I’m excited!” Now that message is rapidly making its way through the blogosphere. Of course, it’s unclear what it means exactly....

I never actually got hooked to purchase the PSP, I'm not sure if the product was worth the money. I have heard from multiple sources that the PSP is a great product, but I'm not one for video games. The only games I play are Madden, NCAA Football and occasionally Call of Duty: World at War.

 

If this is the real deal, the Psp 2 looks absolutely amazing in my opinion (besides the color) which im assuming will be interchangable. I am assuming probably won't be until q1 of next year?

agreed, but that picture just looks like a horrible edit of the original PSP. escpecially the camera on the back. lol.

 

Don't buy into all this PSP-2 Bullshit, unless you hear it from Sony themselves.

This was all the craze at PSPMod.com, and the thread got locked because a mod had proof it was a rumor/lie.

If anything, it wouldn't be called a "PSP-2" either, because there are already PSP-2000's(slims) and PSP-3000's(newest ones).

I agree with you guys that the images maybe be edited but what do you expect it's in production isn't it..?

I think this will be great if you could like purchase games online or have some weird way of doing it without handling the UMDs.
