Rules on Dicing threads within SF & Sandbox

I thought I'd express some feeling over a few thread's that were posted in the SF section, about dicing, where it seems there's one rule for some and another for others.
I'm a little concerned that the staff are not in a complete agreement on the rules for SF and dicing threads.


I'm not exactly arguing with a ranks decision, just don't fully understand the mixed views. So this is either wanting clarification, or ...

I'm wondering whether there needs to be some sort of specification in the rules as to whether threads of dicing does or doesn't belong in SF.
Unless it is deemed that dicing threads of complete troll nature are allowed in SF?

(I'm new, so trying to understand the rules in certain sections when staff have different viewpoints is somewhat confusing)

Dicing started in the SF IIRC, and only caused drama. For one any gambling in the SF is a bad idea as the loser could (and often says) I was JK.

You have a whole section for it in the sandbox. Use it.

 

That was my response to Jack Goff, in the second thread in OP. So hence why I thought it was a the wrong section, but apparently it doesn't matter as third thread shows.

Hence why I believe that there needs to be more clarification in the rules.

 

Does the dice duel hold merit in the spam forum as it would in the sandbox? I'm talking about the legitimacy of it.

 

if two people agree to a dice duel and do it in the sf instead of the sb, that's on them. if you make a thread about wanting to dice people you haven't agreed to dice yet (i.e., advertising "i'm dicing, who wants to play with me!"), you're probably gonna get spammed and should do that in the sb. but the first case should be fine in the sf imo

 

@Ghast, it most likely wont, but would be just people wanting to do it.

@Super, hence why I feel it needs to state it specifically in the rules. Wondering what Video's views are.

 

Weren't dice disabled in SF for a long time due to this?

 

Just add it to sf rules that any agreements made in sf can be deemed not valid so they should go to the sandbox.


Just like previous situations giveaways and agreements are not valid in the sf

 

So let's say you diced someone and won against them in the spam forum - we won't issue a ban here if they don't pay up. Now let's say instead that you diced against them in the sand box and they didn't pay up. Here we'd issue a ban and tell them to pay up. You can use the spam forum for dicing if you want, but don't expect the moderators to help you out when you get swindled. Same idea for trades, giveaways, etc.

Now if some moderator sees a non-regular spam forum user mistake the spam forum as a place for dicing, they might lock the user's thread and direct them to the sand box. No harm done here and it's not a big deal.

 

To add on to what Superman stated - We've also modified user permissions in the dicing section of the sandbox, which prohibits users from editing posts. This is to prevent users from removing their roll(s) and hiding any evidence of a loss.

There's a madness to our method, and it's in an attempt to protect you guys to the best of our abilities.
