I dont think the rule specifically needs to be changed. People are already allowed (in the de facto sense) to gravedig their own threads. Additionally, I will from time to time gravedig formerly-popular SFA threads to promote activity. That however has never been marked as gravedigging. If you want to amend the rule, put a clause at the end saying mods will deal with gravedigging on a case-to-case basis, as they do.

I directly don't support infracting gravedigging.
making a mistake and not realizing it is old is as easy as locking the thread.

Grave-digging is generally considered as posting in a topic which is 14 or more days old since the last post, unless it is the original poster's own thread, whereby this rule is exempt.

That's how I consider it anyway when I report grave-digging.

However I do not support this suggestion as there's no major side-effect to it.

Simply report and post you consider as a grave-dig and let the staff's discretion handle it.

I really think that it should be conditional. The other day someone posted on a 4 year old thread of mine "haha. how much?". that deserves an infraction. but if its obviously an accident it should just be locked.

I think the nature/purpose of the topic should be considered as well.

For instance, User A posts a topic about Paypal, after 10-15 posts, his question doesn't get answered and the topic eventually dies down.

User B has the same problem, and searches Sythe first to see if there's a similar topic and comes across User A's topic. User A's topic however was more then 28 days old, but the question was never answered, therefore User B comments on it looking for help on the matter.

I think mod's have a general idea of who to warn and who to infract, it's pretty easy to see who's gravedigging topics simply for the post count/annoyance, and who's genuinely looking to carry on a particular conversation/question/debate that was never settled.
