Well of course they use bots, how would someone read through 300,000+ appeals in one day? Keep in mind the JaGeX team is hardly 100 people, on the Runescape server of course.

Someone who used to work for Jagex said Jagex gets about 250,000 reports per day. The vast majority of those is for Rule 1 violations.

Rule 1 violations are handled by a bot looking for text strings. The only time a human sees these violations is if a permanent mute is given out, and the player appeals.

But it's still annoying that an honest appeal gets shunned, whereas a pile of bs such as "he deserved it,the n00b" is revoked.
