rs2006 wont last?

I don't know, Jacmob is very experienced. I think we will just have to wait for x amount of time and just wait for the outcome. Any idea why they are looking to shut it down?

well sm maybe Cuz it steal players, I think they got like 100k + registerd users at the moment.

i agree, They must have made really much tho, when it came out they had some rule thing to play the pre alpha that never came out you had to donate atleast 1$, My friend donated like 50$ lool.

 

Pretty much this. Despite the number of changes RS has gone throughout the years, I've mostly conformed to them.

I personally think Jagex will want to shut it down seeing that it steals their customers.

 

It can't be anything with copyrights, they've already taken care of that part.
What he means by it won't last is that sooner or later people will realize ITS STILL A PRIVATE SERVER (which usually people become bored of).

 

yes I have other sources which imply Jagex already have plans to stop this taking off.

 

They'll shut it down probably, they'll probably wait until they've released it just to piss everyone off.

 

Jagex trademarked "Rs" so they might have a case with the name.

 

All they'd have to do is change the domain to something like Scape2006 or something. That avoids the copyright laws, and it's a private server so it's a bit silly that jagex would waste their time seeking judicial remedy against it. A complete waste of money.

 

They've since changed it to 2006scape, so I don't think it's a name issue.

Like others have said, it's probably Jagex being paranoid about a little project being worked on by people who have seen all the suggestions/support for a version of 'scape dated back to '06 and have decided to try to make it a reality. All of this time and they could have done it themselves, while still charging for membership and stuff, you know...to still keep the greed side of the investors intact.

It'll be a big shame to see them stop such a project, as I was looking forward it too. I don't even plan on quitting the real 'scape, just wanted to use this as a way to escape with nostalgia from time to time, like how Classic is atm. I'm sure others feel the same and would just play both from time to time.

the issue is the sheer amount of registered members on 2006scape. Jagex fears it'll be a lot more competitive compared to other rsps so they're taking a lot of action against them. An example of that is the fact that they took the domain away from them. Jagex will continue to pursue them until they're gone unfortunately.

 

Probably for having Trademark or jagex wanting more player = more money
