Rock Climbing Boots

I remember the time when you could buy them from that lady/guy in the mountain for 2k each. Now they are 52k ea. why did they rise so much?

 

they got merched hard by someone can't quite remember who though. Someone had like Billions and billions worth of rock climbing boots and just held then and they rose like a bitch.

 

Used to be 500gp and after people were merching them jagex updated it to 2 seperate types of boots, one cost like 50k with strength+other bonuses and the other one was the same price as the old one but without strength + some of the other bonuses.
I had like 10 boots at the time of the update (not from merching), very jealous of those who had 1000s+

 

They used to just be called "climbing boots" and you could buy them from the guy at the mountain for 12gp. All climbing boots in the game got turned into "rock climbing boots" and they were given a high alching price of 45k. Jagex did this because they thought that the strength bonus of these boots were too good for the price of them. So basicly Jagex forced this huge price upon the boots and those lucky enough to have lots profited greatly. You can still buy normal climbing boots for 12gp. Hope this helped explain it a bit better

 

Most people made bank of these when the price rose, I do beleive it wasnt merchanting the made jagex change the price it was more because of the strength bonus like 'gds08' stated

 

Yeah I had quite a large break from runescape left with what I believed to be around a 600k bank, Had over 40 Climbing boots, came back to a nice little sum of money to start me back up

 

Made 20M off my collection, LOL. I know friends who made over 100M+ from that update. Hell I even saw a video of someone with 100k+ climbing boots.

 

Yeah, not sure quite the reason - rune boot equivalent strength bonus was probably the reason - but Jagex made an update, raising their price on the GE and the stock price from the Sherpa.

 

Ha, I used to go to GWD all the time, so before the price shot up I had about 40 boots in my bank. Made an easy 3m alching them

Wasn't there some speculation about Mod Mark having something to do with it?

 

^ yeah mod mark leaked to some of his friends that they were gonna rise by alot and people made bils off of them.
i was a noob at the time and only had 2 of them lol

They rose because they became relevant to the game lol

 

They came to their senses and stopped having anal sex on their computers.

 

Mod mark stated that the most boots that one player had only made them about 130m but I have seen vids with people making bills off them. Could be fake though I guess.

I remember the update i had 10k of them and my account got hacked the day before would of had 500m free from it.

 

i actaully used to buy those boots from that guy and sell before the update, it was about 300k/hour lol.

 

They were 12gp each back in the day, but you had to buy them one by one.
