RIP Rich Piana 1971-2017

Rich Piana was a famous body builder, and meme.

Although the news has been out a few days now, I only just found out and am very shocked and saddened by his confirmed passing.

I have come across a short tribute video which portrays Rich in some of his best moments, and a small but powerful segment of the messages he delivered to his fans.

Although Rich had used steroids for around 20 years, he was a very inspirational man for those who are bodybuilders or just like going to the gym to improve their bodies.

I listed Rich in the topic I made really early on in my fitness journey. I regret to admit I have been slacking for some time after going through a difficult time the past few months.

I learned so much from Rich's videos I want to share this in this section so hopefully some of you can carry on his legacy too

Wow RIP. I'm not super into bodybuilding, but I respect it as I have a few buddies that enter competitions, and I work out about 4-5 days a week myself. It is tough to get motivated sometimes and this guy seems very motivating and overall a very good guy. Does anyone know what caused his passing?

 

I watched the video on his channel posted by his girlfriend but I think he was going into cardiac arrest, and he fell and hit his head. He was placed into a medically induced coma with an enlarged heart for a couple weeks before life support was turned off and his body couldn't function on its own so he passed

 

Watched the occasional rich piana video and he was a larger then life character, he didn't hide from the fact he used steroids but was open about it. He wasn't selling people the lie that the physique he had could be obtained by being 100% natural. Rip

 

Very candid and rare perspective of the complete bodybuilding industry from the effect of steroids to the fakeness of a lot of the people. All while being an established bodybuilder himself. He will be missed.

Definitely running my next cycle in his honor!

Yeah, it's crap knowing we'll never see another video with Rich in it. As much as he was a controversial person in the bodybuilding scene he always made top quality videos and as what was mentioned above, he never tried pulling that "natty" bullshit like most top well known people in the industry tend to do.

I wonder what will happen with the channel though, will his wife continue making videos or what?

 

Rip big rich, one of the few bodybuilders that were actually honest about their steroid usage. I loved how this guy was honest and straight up with everything he said. He was not afraid to say something and he always stuck to his word no matte what the case.

 

Haha just watched this dude on Netflix seemed arrogant but hey honest as hell, rest in peace man, must of died in relation to substance abuse or something with his heart or liver failure, prayers out to his family!

 

Even though Rich was a huge controversial person in the fitness/bodybuilding industry but I really enjoyed his videos and his compassion and drive, sad to see him go out the way he did.

 

He used to be very honest. The bodybuilding world is a lie. The athletes never say the truth about AES or "secrets" like that

 

He's actually the first Bodybuilder I have ever came across who was open about the industry when I was up and coming in the fitness/bodybuilding world/community. People will say he did some questionable things but he always kept it real about gear use and I he was without a doubt an icon that will be known for many years to come. RIP Rich, and know that your legacy will continue on for some generations to come.

 

still miss him to this day... loved watching richs videos eating breakfast :/
