Quick question for those who have information -

Since Alex didn't have too much information regarding the situation, when did banned accounts start being deleted but not archived - deleted in general?

I spoke with him right after the thread was posted.

 

I don't remember. I take it this is going back more than half a decade. We usually only delete accounts when there is persistent harassment of staff by the banned user. This is a way of stopping the harassment.

We don't backup accounts we delete. Their records are simply removed from the database. It's not done lightly.

Since most current staff may not remember Zyper was ex-staff. He demotion reason is listed above. My question is since the account was delete and can't be recovered, is he allowed to make a new account or is it seen as ban envading?

I was around when all the Ghosts IRC stuff went down, but I vaguely remember anything.

Farcast sent me some messages on Skype trying to provide some insight and has given me permission to post it here.

To clarify, Zypur's demotion and account deletion were completely different scenarios. The demotion isn't what is being touched upon here.

Zypur was deleted over the whole ghosts IRC drama, where, if you were found to be involved with that particular IRC, Richard removed you from the community himself. Stefan was caught up in this (truth be told, I can't recall any specific harassment that was his doing) and his account was deleted along with much of that IRC that had an account on Sythe. He'd need to pardon, if anything.

Zypur isn't a threat to the community, and, prior to his deletion, contributed a great deal to the site. Hope to see another veteran return.

I haven't been able to reply since my initial post, I've been extremely busy with life priorities. I just want to express my gratitude towards Farcast and Unbanned. Farcast especially, we go way back, boys from the yard. As they mentioned, my demotion and ban reason are quite different.

Nonetheless, I would like to return to the community. I was given a form of trust and blatantly dishonored it. I apologize and hopefully those of you can support my return.
