Revolutionize Sythe: 2007

I've suggested LoL advertising on numerous occasions, as that's my primary focus here, and I'm extremely well versed with the LoL market. However Richard stated that paid advertising was used in the past, and yet didn't prove fruitful, and wouldn't be used again. There are a variety of forum based improvements that can be made, which are extremely easy and instantaneous - in reference to the LoL market. However it seems the people that are needed in order to process such a change are MIA.

 

I personally don't know how many members of Sythe play LoL regularly, so I can't comment on that. Do you have some sort of statistic you could present, SellerMan?

 

I definitely think sythe could use some revamping.

 

When there are 12 million people playing LoL daily, on average, this is something that should be looked into. This site was based off Runescape that has/had a few million people at most.

Issue is getting to the LoL players. The only option I can think of would be their facebook page, but even then I'm not sure they would do it.

Great Idea, I know how they worked to make the place better, the rank was a big factor and it's what pushed them.

I've never even heard of LoL, honestly. I don't really look into other MMORPG's besides Runescape.

The volume of players it has sounds appealing to create a market for it - the question really lies on what the economy is like on the game itself.

Automated trading would be an alternative to Sythe users who want to trade accounts, gold, and items and have a specific amount in mind, and although it restricts some of the factors of regular thread-trading, it doesn't really take away anything.

For example: You have 20M on OSRS that you would like to sell @ $5.50/M. Rather than redirecting members to PlayerAuctions - we create a system that allows you to register sales officially through Sythe. Then, you can create a thread and link members to your personal link that is generated for you after registering your gold in the system, which give players a "Buy It Now" option. An OMM will receive an automated PM that notifies them a user is trying to buy your gold, and then contacts you, the seller and the buyer. The OMM will then arbitrate the trade as if it was a regular trade.

It's semi-complicated, but it still would definitely reduce scamming tenfold. Users would not be required to use this system - please note that.

 

I agree with you that we need to do more in preventing users from being scammed. The site needs improvement in that area. I believe the best way to do this is through better educating new users. The most common scams are easily preventable. Imposter scams especially. If users are educated on imposter scams before they start trading, this will go a long way.

Forcing people to use OMM's is the wrong way to go about safety. OMM's add complexity to a trade, and cost money. In some situations, such as a trade between two newer users, an OMM will be necessary. However, many trades involving trusted users would be pointless, and actually more risky, with the involvement of an OMM.

Was meant to be to educate new users, I don't think anything's been done with it as of yet.

 

I completely agree with the idea of this. Especially the OMM for trusted users. Why get an OMM for someone who's more trusted? Such as R2Pleasent.

 

OMMs would automatically be assigned if using the automated system - if you opt not to use the system, you don't have to use an OMM. Again, the system is to be used to significantly reduce scamming - an OMM would be necessary in that process.

Unfortunately, that guide often goes unread. Why not send an automated PM to new users that links them to that guide?

"Trust" is irrelevant over the internet - OMMs, Moderators, and many trusted users have been known to scam, as shocking as that may be, it does happen.

 

This topic is basically just saying that the staff & community need to be on top of their game with watching the site and keeping activity at a high.

I think it's going great and the Rs2007 market is booming and going strong. I guess this thread was sort of accidentally approved .
