Ret Pally 19 Twink

I just came back to WoW and decided to make a 19 retribution Blood Elf Paladin twink as twinking is being revived with Cataclysm.

I have hoisted a list of gear off a site, but I wanted to run it through you guys to check if it is optimal, or correct any AH prices etc.

Gear

Head – Lucky Fishing Hat or Green Tinted Goggles
Neck – Scout’s Medallion (100 Honor)
Shoulder –Savage Trodders (Have)
Cloak – Sentry Cloak (350G) or Random Dungeon Cloak
Chest – Armor of the Fang (have)/Blackened Defias Armor (Deadmines)
Bracers – Cavedweller Bracers (RFC)
Gloves – Thorbia’s Gauntlets (120G)
Waist – Girdle of the Blindwatcher (SFK) or Deviate Scale Belt (have) or Cobrahn's Grasp (WC)
Legs – Leggings of the Fang (have) or Mighty Chain Pants (vendor)
Boots – Savage Trodders (Have) or Silver Linked Footguards (225G) or Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots (Stranglethorn Vale Fishing Quest)
Ring 1 – Seal of Sylvanas (SFK Quest)
Ring 2 – Legionnaire’s Band (100 Honor)
Trinket 1 – Arena Grand Master
Trinket 2 – Insignia of the Horde (2.8k Honor)
Weapon – Shadowfang?

Chest – +100 HP or +4 all stats
Cloak – +3 Agility or +70 armor
Bracers – +9 Stamina
Gloves – +15 Agility or +7 Strength or +30 healing
Boots – Minor Speed Increase
Weapon – Lifestealing
Shield - Thorium Spikes or +7 Stamina)

Professions

Engineering – For Green Tinted Goggles, among other nifty Engineering contraptions.
Mining – Toughness (up to +7 Stamina)
Herbalism – Lifeblood


Consumables

Rumsey Rum Black Label
Heavy Runecloth Bandage
Elixir of Giant Growth
Elixir of Minor Fortitude
Swiftness Potion

 

life blood>toughness for one and also items and stats are gonna change in cata. You can't pre gear for it as the stats are gonna be factored differently.

 

Ditch engineering altogether, Herb and mining best.

 

you are insane eng is best favored for twinks.

 

It looks pretty good, but you may end up spending quite a bit more on shadowfang.
edit: it goes for several thousand, apparently.

Yeah, it used to be much cheaper but they made a change to who can drop it...lets just say it doesn't drop often.

 

Theres no point going ret if you dont get the BoA 2h axe tbh and youll have insane amounts of trouble trying to find a SF (They're drops are being taken out of the game alltogether in cata).

Engi sucks dont bother with it, id go mining/herbs.

 

Lol just saw you had SF as 150g, id be preparing to pay 15k+

 

Whats wrong with eng? And SF sells for about 5k, not 15.

 

Ok violent heres a task for you, go to the ruin US battlegroup forums (which is the most active for 19s) and put up a post saying -WTB SHADOWFANG 6K GOOD OFFER- (which is one more thousand then what you think is a "good" price) and I guarantee that you will be flamed.

Shadowfangs worth about 10k right now, and as the only bosses which still drop them are being taken out of the game in a few months, that price will skyrocket.

Engineering is decent, but both mining and herbs are better than it.
-Mining gives you +70hp which can be used in Arenas and WSG
-Herbs gives you a heal that can be used in Arenas and WSG
-Engi gived you goggles (which are worse then fhat) and bombs (which cant be used in arena)
Arena is a fairly big part of 19s and you want to be as prepared for it as you can.

 

Wait...I just did some research and found that shadowfang has been nerfed out of it's shadow effect...is this true?

I'm going to do engineering for now, because it is the easiest. I'll do the others if I feel i need an extra edge.

What weapon do you recommend if I don't use shadowfang? (i don't have an 80 on the account)

Also, if i decided to go prot and FC, what gear would i need to switch up?

 

Ok dude dont want to burst your bubble but with no BoAs/SF Paladin is a shitty class to play.

Id go with Night Reaver/Butchers cleaver if your going to go through with your plan though.
Its not worth FCing as prot, but again if you really want to just go with the max stam gear.
Shadowfang's +shadow damage has been taken out but nothing else, it's still the best sword dps wise.

Honestly I wouldnt bother with Ret pal without SF or BoAs

 

Looks like a nice setup.

However, we cannot really give you feedback on the AH Prices, due to the fact prices vary from server to server :/.

On Drenden (the realm I play[ed] on), Shadowfang went for 800g-1400g, and the other one (I can't remember what it was, Shadow Blade maybe? The blue one you get from the Captain just before Arugal) was rare as hell, haha.

Otherwise, very nice gear plan. Looks like it could do some good for ya.

 

Please stop talking down the price of SF! You'll get the poor man's hopes up. There may be SF's out there for cheap but if your going to go out looking for one on the forums etc and buy one from someone who has a clue, 10k will be about average.
I'm not saying there arnt ones for cheaper out there but you will be hard pressed to find them.

Read my posts bro I've answered all of your questions, and sorry dude but your not the only one who might be looking for info in this thread. If someone makes a mistake and gives some incorrect information I'm going to correct them!

 

i do not know if you realize this, but when you pay that 10g to stop gaining exp, you are ina completely different battleground, you only play against twinks that stops exp gain, and the battleground literally take forever to get into. i ended up deleting my twink because of it...

 

Yeah Pure, you have to transfer your twink to a ruin server where 19 twink games still pop.

 

As I stated in my post, prices of items vary by server.

On Drenden, Shadowfang isn't expensive, it's only about, as said, ~1k...Your post makes little to no sense, if you know anything about World of Warcraft.
