Ok.
You have a pet, it's your property, your responsibility.
You have a pencil case, that's also your property, therefore your responsibility.

Do you see my point?

You property, is your responsibility.

Ok, so my post's looking rather pointless. I hate to name names, but i feel it's a worthey example.

The Lobster.

He has been 'Hacked'.

His e-mail to be precise.

This then ended up with a innocent member being hacked.

I find that his e-mail should be his property and his responsibility.

The fact is, that nobody knows the truth, except him.

So here is my proposal.

A new rule.

"Being hacked"
Getting 'hacked' is your fault, nobody else's. If you get 'hacked' and the other person has liable proof this should be forced to be repayed.
All cases should be debatable, but if found 'guilty' the person in question should be perm banned, with a I.P ban in some cases.

Let me know your opinion, as this is only mine.

Thanks for reading.

its not the other persons fault if they get hacked, its not something they can prevent, therefore they cant stop it so.....

Mafia, with the right anti-virus, and protection. You are safe from hackers. You will only get hacked if your computer is unsafe, therefore it is preventable.

I think its a good rule. You should scan everyfile you download, if not its your fault if you get hacked.

Good idea. He should at least be required to pay the money back, and it was his own fault if he didn't use adequate antivirus protection. Unless he has proof otherwise, it's his fault.

Yep, i agree with it. If you protect yourself and you dont download "runescape password crackers" (lolz), then u wont be hacked. Sure, they can try to brute force! Then change your password every week.

When an email/msn address is worth over 50m, as with any trusted/official, then you certainly have an obligation to make sure it's secure.

If being hacked were accepted as an excuse, then all scamming MM's would be able to dodge blame, and the system would fall apart. Therefore, people *have* to be held responsible.

All this I agree with. But so far, this community has done exceptionally well in upholding this - I don't see where this thread is going.

If you're suggesting the lobster deserves punishment, then I disagree. He has offered to repay what was scammed and, provided he does so, I believe he's met his obligation.

If I didn't believe he was hacked, it would be different. But, I spoke with the hacker, both on Lob's MSN, and on the scammer's main address, and I believe TheLobster had no involvement. Further, total damage was said to be only 3m.

As long as it doesn't happen again (which might suggest negligence), then there's no harm done. As I understand, a lot of people get hacked/keylogged at least once. As the MSN dp hack showed, it's not always blatant carelessness that's the cause. If, however, the MM in question were prone to downloading "Free HAI2D PK vids!" without scanning them, then a ban, TwC, or title-removal might be appropriate.

Again, I think Sythe deals well with the "being hacked" cases. The MM's deserve to be examined on a case-by-case basis.

i think its a good idea very good, then we dont get that shit anymore "i am hacked couldnt do anything about it" that sucks.

i think i support you;)
how many vouches you need to get the rule here!?! or doesnt that goes that way? (just asking lol:P)

Where is this thread going? To the rules page hopefully.
I am not just making this post to get The Lobster banned, and if you read all my 1st post, you will see i say you only get banned if you don't repay it.

This is a good idea as it will mean people will take extra care\precautions, and i think that it would be a useful rule to have.

As far as i have seen, there is more reasons to have it than not.

Thanks for your opinion anyway, i respect you.

The lobster is a good guy, hes paying back the people that been scammed.

Edit: I do agree with this rule.

I agree, if your not responsible enough to keep your passwords safe, then gtfo of sythe b/c I sure don't wanna lose 50m because somone who's respected fucks up.

edit: however if someone does get hacked and agrees to repay, then no harm has been done, but if they don't agree to, perm ban FTW!

This sounds good except this could lead to the 'hacker' working with one of his friends to scam the person who got hacked out of money ie if the hackers friend says he got scammed out of x amount of gp and he has screenshots to prove it the person who was hacked would be responsible for paying back the hackers friend.

I say any staff member who gets hacked loses their position for incompetence.

Brute force does not get every combination and would take weeks if not months to crack an average pass with numbers and the lobster probably has a long pass with numbers in it

if you got hacked would you feel the same way?

if you got hacked, then thats not your problem. There ARE msn hackig programs out there.

xsafire, i would feel the exact same way.

I don't feel myself to be superior to anybody.

And, your opinion is welcome, but the majority seem to disagree.
