I thought this method wasn't a scam, but merely a merchbot that was overpaying or a merchbot that would buy junk.

When I found out the true nature of his "method" and found out that it was a scam to rob the other user of their items, I reported him and he was banned. See here.

 

I was indeed on skype with IRL Seller on TS, he had no intent of using the scam method. He was just getting some information about it/getting enough to have the user banned.
