Anyways. I made that post around 10 or 10:30 pm EST, which has always been prime time for sythe activity. I didn't post it in some random aussie timezone or whatever people are saying, it was during the most common time for people to be online.

The point I was making is that posting on sythe has been declining quite a bit over the past week or two, and it's very frustrating to see the staff have 0 reaction to it. For example, the biggest thing that upsets me is what is happening to the community development team. All you staff who decided you wanted to be on the team, why aren't you participating? How are we supposed to accomplish goals if you refuse to do anything? I can't stand just watching the staff sit idly by while Sythe.org is dieing a slow, painful death.

So no this had nothing to do with staff members having jobs or whatever god awful excuse we've heard 3,000 times, it's about the lack of doing anything when the site needs it the most.

Like I said in your other thread, 4 minutes after you posted there were 4 mods online. Complaining because there were no mods on at 10:29 PM is just stupid.

It's not necessarily that there were no mods online, it's just an emphasis on the fact that the staff aren't doing anything to prevent the site from dropping in activity so heavily as it has been over the past few weeks.

I'd just like to point out, even if that little mod incident inspired this, he actually specified about the community development team in this post. Even if the staff has a biassed opinion towards the actual reason of this post, you should base your replies to the content of it...

Irrelevant of the Mod situation, his point on Sythe declining and slowly coming to its demise is definitely true, and is clearly undeniable. Sythe's activity as a whole, and its user traffic is going downhill daily.

None of this is feedback, its just observations. Factual, but not productive at all. It hasnt been "the past 2 weeks" either.. this has been going on pretty much the whole time ive been here, at the very least a few months. x399, you arent on to anything here merely pointing out obvious truths.. honestly staff not being online for a very short period of time doesnt mean anything. Thats not a contributing factor to the site receiving less traffic, this and your last thread are pretty incoherent/flat out bitching. What do you suggest be dont about it, afterall this is the suggestions section

Now our active community (not the market, it ebbs and flows daily) has shrunk to a mere handful of people. You could compile a list and it might be at most 50 to 75 long. He made his feedback in the OP. People become staffers and then they disappear except on the days they come in to do modlogs. The staff is the driving force of a forum. We can't make anything happen, we can give our opinions until hell freezes over but it doesn't do any good because it takes action from the staff.

I agree with his post entirely, but he presents nothing to help the problem. All he is doing is bitching ATM and thats doing nothing but putting a target on his back. Everyone is aware the site is receiving less traffic, this thread isnt even saying anything new, without some solutions to the issue at hand this thread is pointless.

Only way to bring in new users is via Advertising, if we actually want to bring Sythe back. However, if I recall correctly, advertising was not an option. Not sure how else we can actually aid in the growth of the site.

Runescape isn't as popular as before, where word of mouth does the job, or people themselves find a site to sell/buy runescape items/accounts/gold from.
We clearly need other means of attracting members. Maybe start stemming out of a Runescape focus, and advertise other games, such as WoW, D3, etc.

You're confusing feedback and suggestions. If you read the last part of my post about the mods that is feedback. Feedback presents a problem that we have found through observation. Suggestions gives pertinent information on how to solve an issue that has been observed.

Now I agree with x339 with this. We need to, as community as a whole, figure out something that will drive traffic and new members our way. Right now we are stuck in a niche as a Runescape forum. It overtakes you when you get here, RS has it's own HUGE market, RS has it's own separate section, and all of the other markets are condensed to a couple of sections. Other games have a small section in which to discuss them. RS or at least the black market portions are failing at the moment so we need to work on expanding into something that will bring new people.

Not getting into petty bullshit here, read the dictionary definition of "feedback". I quoted it but apparently thats not enough for you guys, read it yourself.

Agreed but flat out, no other black market is even a drop in the bucket compared to runescape. We cannot make what is not there, the only thing i could think of is honestly advertising.. i cant think of anywhere where i have seen a "sythe.org" advert the return on a well placed advert would outweigh the costs IMO.

Link the community development team, im interested maybe a signature should be made up to advertise for it because ATM it seems to be fairly well hidden i atleast didnt see it in the community gen section or this one. More exposure to that within the community would be beneficial and possibly making a "Sythe.org" signature to use on other websites to use as free advertising for those who are willing to do so. Realistically advertising seems to be the only plausible solution to this IMO

The staff members doing the bare minimum, if that's so, probably has a 5% impact on Sythes activity. Yes, I'd love to see staff members posting actively in their respective sections, and trying their level best to increase its activity/discussion value. However, that won't really do much. We NEED advertisment.

I think you're missing my point here. The staff simply posting more isn't going to accomplish anything. They need to get involved and work on getting things moving, because they are the ones with the power to do that.

Richard has stated he is not going to pay for advertising, but that doesn't mean it's a lost cause. There are other ways to grow with out spending loads of money on advertising. For example, I used to help run a forum where we literally spent $0 on advertising, but we were able to draw in hundreds of members simply by using what we had available. I am trying to do that with Sythe, mainly through the community development team, through various different outlets, but the staff are not actively participating. They are the ones with the power to make a difference, but no one seems to care.

It's frustrating because I know it can be done, but no one wants to do it.
